December 15, 201014 yr Lovely. Our trees and hedges were like glitter yesterday because we're still getting freezing fog at night. STV weather is predicting that the snow will start coming down in earnest again tomorrow. The new transport secretary says he's improved communication between all the agencies, so hopefully we won't see a repeat of the chaos we had last week.
December 15, 201014 yr Author It sounds lovely. I have heating again now but I'd still rather the cold weather doesn't come back.
December 15, 201014 yr My personal hot pads are alive and covered in fur. I can always entice one up beside me. Trouble is, the big one likes to plonk himself right on top of me and then gets cantankerous if I dare to move at all.
December 15, 201014 yr Author Our last 2 seemed to thing it their duty and right to be either sitting on someone or being carried around like babies. It's really weird having no animals in the house at all now.
December 15, 201014 yr They're like family - sometimes they get me really worked up - but I couldn't imagine being without them now.
December 15, 201014 yr I've never liked silence. Maybe it's because of my other bugbear - I can't stand the ticking of a clock andt hey always sound louder when the house is quiet. I always have to have something on in the background. Thank goodness these buildings are well soundproofed or I'd be very unpopular with my neighbours.
December 15, 201014 yr Author I don't have music on very often now in case I don't hear Mum. I always had music playing all my life
December 16, 201014 yr BT I'm like you, I hate the silence. Well it never is silent because there is always noise outside. But if there is no TV on or music I find myself fixating on every creak and groan. Lying in bed this morning I was listening to the birds. The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is turn on the tv or radio.
December 16, 201014 yr Tookm this from my son's bedroom window this afternoon. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/IMG_0222small.jpg How lovely Meg :) I quite like the quiet, but Lyn always has music playing. She drives me mad sometimes, with a radio playing in the kitchen, one playing in the upstairs dressing room, neither of which she can hear as she's in the bathroom <_< In her old car, she had a cd player with removable front, which since being stolen twice I insisted she removed every time she left the car. If she was moving her car 20ft from the pavement into the drive, she'd fit the stereo in place and switch it on for the minute or less it would take her to get into the drive <_< (where is that blow up head smiley when you need it) it drives me bonkers
December 16, 201014 yr Author I always find it hard to understand why people walking by the river have walkmans in their ears. Half the pleasure is the sounds of the animals and birds and the water rushing by
December 18, 201014 yr it is glorious today - we have about 7inches of snow so far and still coming thick and fast- thank god I have everything needed for xmas. plus a power cut last night so we were all in the front room with the fire flickering and candles around - looking out onto the moon lit snow I felt like singing good king wenceslas LOL, the silence was amazing and wycombe was plunged into darkness for a while. our area was left powerless for some time and poor daughter was frightened, first time she has experienced that darkness and lack of electric, at least she appreciated it when the power came back on though.
December 18, 201014 yr We have a dusting and the tiniest flakes falling...should I say trying to reach the ground, they are so tiny they are being blown back up and around.
December 18, 201014 yr We've had the 15cms of snow they promised us with more to follow and as usual everything has come to a standstill. Someone on the radio this morning said it took her over 7 hours to get home last night and it's usually a 50 mins trip! She lived out towards Ormskirk somewhere. If I'd got to Glasgow I bet I would have struggled to get home. Sue
December 18, 201014 yr A good job you never tried. I've just seen my friend's son and his dad picked him up from the train station at Birmingham last night and they took 7 hours on the 2 1/2 hour journey back into Lancaster! But I'm sorry you missed the show. I just hope the weather settles so we all can go :)
December 18, 201014 yr Author Nearly all the planes were cancelled last night - and all are this morning, so, for you Sue, it worked out for the best but I know how frustating it is for you
December 19, 201014 yr Newcastle has had another heavy fall of snow today. Daughter's offices in Morpeth are cut off again at the moment. Sue
December 19, 201014 yr Author I'm worrying about Charles getting home from Edinburgh on Christmas Eve.
December 20, 201014 yr worried my son's girlfriend wont be getting back to Wolverhampton on Wedsnesday after spending the weekend- or perhaps that was their plan....the weather is very hit or miss for where the snow will hit from what they are saying- luckily everyone has been digging out the hill and gritting so we arent snowed in at present. as for music playing - I dont have a lot on, and if I play it it is Darius mostly LOL - like meg says I much prefer to listen to the bird song etc - OH does insist on having the radio on in the summer out the garden, it really annoys me as I like to listen to the peace and quiet and the birds singing etc
