January 1, 201114 yr Author Happy New Year to everyone. We were walking through the church yard and a family of squirrels were foraging. One of the young ones was trying to run off carrying a baguette bigger than it was in it's mouth - what a shame I didn't have my camera with me - not often I don't have one in my bag
January 1, 201114 yr Happy New Year everyone! I agree Sue - lots of Darius activity is needed in 2011 :D What a pity you didn't have your camera Meg - squirrels are so cute! Were they red or grey?
January 7, 201114 yr Author In Salford it has snowed. Some of Mum's friends are not venturing out. We have sunshine at the moment - although it probably wont last
January 7, 201114 yr Yes, it's snowed here again today, but it's beginning to melt now thank goodness. Sue
January 7, 201114 yr Author That's the thing. It's quite warm, it's only the rain making it look darker which makes you feel it should be cold - but it isn't.
January 12, 201114 yr Today (Tuesday) here was almost a normal day with just a few vestiges of ice remaining on pavements, and for the first time this year, I feel well. I had some kind of virus or maybe flu. Serves me right for being so sure I was immune while half my family were ill over Christmas. My sister-in-law is still quite poorly and she's been ill much longer than me. Belated Best Wishes to you all for all you wish for yourselves in 2011. Happy New Year! A' ra best!
January 12, 201114 yr Whatever it was, it seems to have detoxed me, and I'm actually feeling much better than I have for months. Not the way I would have chosen but remarkably efficacious!
January 12, 201114 yr Author That's convenient. My daughter has been on a detox - and feels awful. Going to buy a couple of new basins - the one they put in Mum's shower room is too small for her to use properly. David's dark room is never used as a dark room any more so I'm replacing his large sink and drainer with a small basin. It is a VERY small room but will be perfect as a guest room - no boxes allowed.
January 12, 201114 yr Good hunting! I'm waiting for my brother to come and help me give my cat his injection of fluid under the skin. It doesn't hurt and he's used to it but it takes two people, because someone has to keep him still while the other wields the needle and turns the flow on.
January 12, 201114 yr Author I should think that'd be impossible for one person to do. Is this rehydration of medication?
January 12, 201114 yr He's got kidney problems and too much calcium apparently so he gets some fluid once a week to help dilute the calcium (I think) and it seems to give him a bit more energy too. He was really, really ill in early summer. I thought I was going to lose him. He was going in weekly to go on a drip and that seemed to help stabilise him. Then about six weeks later, it was just short bursts of fluid just under the skin and he didn't deteriorate. He gets really stressed every time he goes to the vet, so she showed me how to do it at home. I took him back every couple of weeks for some time, but then she said come back in 3 months. He's also been on a special renal diet since he was diagnosed. He's done alright, I think. He's booked in for next Tuesday so I guess I'll find out then. Edited January 12, 201114 yr by Baytree
January 12, 201114 yr Hope you manage to find the sinks you want Meg. Glad you're feeling better BT, this bug certainly takes some shaking off. Hope your cat continues to improve. Sue
January 12, 201114 yr Author I hope he's Ok, BT. The trouble is, you think so much of them, it's hard to see them unwell.
