Nine little bluetits hatched and growing by the day. I can't believe how quickly they grow. Mum and dad are doing a brilliant job. Some of the insects they're bringing in are almost as big as the babies, but it's amazing how they manage to eat them! I've had a go at taking some pictures but they're not really clear enough. Sue

That sounds lovely though. This beautiful weather will certainly make life easier for the parents.
I'm a bit worried about the very strong winds forecast for tomorrow. 75 miles an hour and on amber alert! :( Sue
The weather was so bad this morning, wind and heavy rain, that she gave up and sheltered in the nest with the babies until it improved. Sue

At least we haven't had rain. Life is still going on in the garden, the wildlife seem fine with it.

We had a whole afternoon and night of showers - should stop people complaining about no rain for months.

Glad you enjoyed your hot, dry holiday, Spam

We had a dead, very wet blue tit on our doorstep. It's such a shame. It's looks fully fledged but very young. They will nest in the Wisteria and when it's windy, that really moves.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Pam. It's been really cold here today.

Our baby bluetits are huge now. Hope they keep safe when they fledge, so many don't survive after all their parents hard work. Sue

One report said that 1 in 4 end up as prey to cats. I think that's guess work but even if it was right, you can't blame cats, it's the way they evolved. One of mine used to hold his bell in his mouth. Because they were always given treats when a LIVE bird or bat was brought in and given up, most ended up flying away.

What a good idea!

Sounds like a clever cat. It's amazing how quickly they learn things. Sue

Hw was - great to have in the family but an absolute terror to anyone else. He was the one who could talk. I just never was able to translate but the tone was always pretty clear.
In our local paper yesterday there was a picture of a cat and her three litttle kittens, who had been abandoned outside the local RSPCA animal shelter and it was full up. They had such an appealing look in their eyes, it was so sad. Sue

Now that sounds as though some people are just going to have to have her and her kittens. I've had most of my animals because they needed a home - and Dane because he would have been put down

The bluetits have all fledged now. They waited for the sunny weather. Mum and Dad are still feeding them in the trees at the back of the house. Sue
Just heard that Lucy, Mark's girlfriend, has got a first!! Now she just has to get a job. Sue

Great news Sue. Wish her luck with the job hunting.

How many blue tits survived?

The kittens arrived on Thursday night and have soon settled in. They go loopy every now and then dashing up and down stairs, round the sofa and into the kitchen only to repeat it several times.

They have also learnt how to jump onto my coffee table so I'm going to have to be careful with hot drinks.

Berry managed to get from my printer onto the window ledge yesterday. She seemed to enjoy watching what was happening outside.

I'm going to have to do something with all the TV/dvd cables as they are very keen to investigate all the leads!

They have also managed to get onto the first ledge with my DVDs.

I'm now wondering what I have done!

I can't believe how much they have grown in a few days.

Congratulations to Lucy, Sue. What would she like to do.

Rather you than me Pam, I'll enjoy seeing those cute kittens from behind a computer screen.
