absolutely, no justification or excuses. Daily Telegraph has it right "Our sick society"
It's just thuggery. Just an excuse to steal and destroy

You are absolutely right Meg!

In truth it's only a minority of our society that are behaving like this, and a shame that we are all included in this expression.

It's disgusting what's occuring, and now I see 3 young men have been killed in Birmingham whilst trying to protect their businesses :o Decent people murdered for nothing more than trying to look after their livelihood :( It's disgusting!

the thing is we are in a time of the unknown, its only been a short time since people lived the way we do, populations so large, kids being kids so much longer, not needing to take responsibility or perish like the millenia before, the increase in young men full of testosterone and nowhere to let out their aggression, not many battles these days -people feeling they are too good to work 9 til 5, or do menial work...youngsters want it all, now and without working for it, bombarded with what you could have, consumerism gone mad - after all they have been told through media, adverts that you need it all, and work is for losers, that you need to respect them and be powerless to discipline them - as a mum i know even the best kids try it on and need keeping in their place and to know why we need morals an responsibility - and to know they have family security and support -nowadays we have kids bringing up their kids without family structures or security , I despair watching jeremy kyle lol

the fact is many girls have kids purely to get benefits, homes - the men dont need to be bread winners, they rely on their women to be given the homes - the women have no need to worry about having kids with steady partners..as the homes, benefit money is in the women's names - you could see this coming years back, i have a neighbour like it, and i can see their little kids have no chance, breaks my heart seeing them in the middle of the disfunctional family lives, no child should have to witness what they do, there is no self discipline in the mother or partner, the four kids have been fathered by three different men, they act like teenagers and do not work but drink all day and row all night- and i can see when their kids grow up they will have been scarred - the poor wee mites dont know what to expect from day to day tbh.

I agree with what you say but it is only a small minority that do that.

I remember Stuart telling me some of the girls in his year couldn't wait to leave school have a baby to get a place of their own by the council and live off hand outs.

1 child gave them a flat and 2 a house.

But the majority of the leavers do try to find work and a life supporting themselves.

Yes they have to live with us longer but they are still trying.

I went to a pension meeting yesterday, didn't realise that it was by a Union rep. She was trying to tell us not to move from the pension with the NHS or we could ruin the pension pot and cause disaster in the country's finances!

She then went on to say that the riots had been caused by closure of youth groups!

Did she really think those rioters went to youth groups!

I nearly walked out but waited patiently for a gap in the talk and excused myself saying I had to get back to work.

On a completely different topic. My decree nisi was granted yesterday at 10am! Almost a single woman again!!

Actually it felt quite 'shit' but I couldn't go back now.

I am actually very happy with my new life.

You'll never be 'free' again. You're much too good for that, enjoy it. Have a happy rest of your life

It's a wonder your speaker didn't say that the riots were an excursion organised by the youths to see how another career opportunity could pan out

Most important is that you are happy with your new life. The decree nisi is just the closing of the previous chapter. Plenty more pages left to read in the book.

It's a whole new chapter now Pam, just go for it.

On the subject of the riots I feel so much rubbish has been talked by the people who are supposed to be running the country that I dispair. They just seem to have no understanding of what is actually happening in the 'normal' world.

My niece and her husband are both in the police and were due to go on holiday this weekend with their two children, but all leave has been cancelled and her mum and dad have been staying with them over the last few days to take care of the children because they have been called into work at a moments notice since the beginning of the riots. Sue

yes, a whole new chapter, make the most of what life throws at youxx

yup, excuses all round, unfortunately the fact is a lot of people will take and do what they think they will get away with, the more they are given the more they want, the softer you are the more advantage they take - surely they must have known cctv would get them, hope they are in a sweat waiting for that knock on the door

One happy daughter, she got 2As and 2Bs in her A levels and is off to Warwick Uni to study Chemistry.

Back from Liverpool and son is finally married without any major hitches. They're now on their honeymoon and I can finally begin to relax again! Sue

What minor hitches were there? He'd found the right girl - couldn't ask for more than that.

He woke up on Saturday morning in Liverpool, and realised that he hadn't picked up the certificate in Bolton, to prove that the bands had been read. Luckily, as Lucy's dad was the vicar marrying them, he was prepared to go ahead with the wedding!!!

It was a wet day, after 2 really sunny days, although they managed to get most of the outside photos taken during a lull in the rain.

Yes, he's definately marrried the right girl, and they had a lovely day so that's all that matters. Sue

It sound lovely - the little things going wrong will amuse them in years to come. I'm so glad the day turned out well.
