Bought a sun umbrella and we've had bad weather since :(

Even worse today rain first thing now drizzle

just emailed serento festival(britains first classical festival) to ask if Darius is appearing - after all he was alongside others at Mercedes who are appearing at it(blake, russell, faryl), and Katherine jenkins is headlining -

yes, he does it so well, even has that jauntiness that the old singers had. made me miss the likes of Dean martin etc.

wonder what Tony Bennett said to darius when they met! I know he said Rod stewart sounded like a woman singing swing in one interview..LOL

After all that snow and rain we suffered during the winter months we now have a hosepipe ban from Friday! :( Sue

I discovered years ago that my mum and one of her cousins used to sing with the Big Bands in London during the war years, but that's all I know and The Big Bands Tour has got me thinking about it again. Unfortunately all the people in the family who might have known something are no longer with us. All I do know is that she was in The Pay Corp in Radcliffe and she joined the entertainment troop there and it was something related to that. Makes me realise how important it is to get to know about your family history before it's too late. Perhaps Darius might find something out during his research!! ;) Sue

That'd be nice. My Mum was too young to join up so, at 15 she worked in a munitions factory which was only supposed to take over 16s. When one of the boys got caught in a machine they were all smuggled out before the authorities found out. Then she was given a brand new chevvy canteen to drive - only she couldn't drive so her father took her out on the road for an hour and shouted at her until she managed to drive it. He should have told her she had to put water in it and then she wouldn't have needed the army troup to pull it into camp to be mended.

I love the little stories that keep coming up.

Find out all you can from her Meg, wish I had asked more questions at the time. Now I've got lots of interesting photos and no idea who the people are or where they were taken. :( Sue

I learnt much more from my Grandmother just before she died than my Mum ever had. She was living in a twilight world where Pop (my grandfather) was still alive but we were shadows - her life was fascinating. Her parents would probably have been jailed in this day.

Me too, Sue.

Like you, I now have lots of unlabelled photos.......which is why I always made my children

write details on the back of photos. It's so easy to forget names and places after a few years.

It's not stopped raining here since the hosepipe ban was introduced on 9th July, and now they're warning of more heavy rain and flooding overnight!! :( Sue

It's very hot here again today. Too hot to take Mum out for a walk but she can sit in the shade under the trees.

I keep pouring water out of my flower pots.

They are so soaked they can't cope with anymore.

It's so hard finding a dry spell to take the dogs out.

We keep getting soaked.
