1. Definitely! Anywhere north of Scotland generally looks incredibly mythical to me - like a different world almost

8. Oh really :lol: my all time favourite backing singers were Ireland 2006 with Brian Kennedy which included Una from The Saturdays and a small man that looked like an aging jockey or something :heehee: France 2008's backing vocalists were inspired too with their beards and glasses!

14. I know :( Fairytale was a complete one off - a winner that's transcended into UK popular culture :o

43. Yeah, dance albums are always hit or miss - it seems that this is a likely miss, and the cheapest import I can find is £20 so I don't think I'll bother. AATW will probably get round to releasing it in 2012 so I might buy it then :kink:

Back to no. 1? ^_^ I wonder just how well this 90s dance flavoured track will fare in Eurovision. I can't see the Eastern European countries giving these uptempo entries many points. They tend to favour the ballads, or at least it seems like they do.

Personally, I prefer 'Kom' but I think any Eurovision entry in 2010 that features someone playing the violin is copping out in a "Alexander Rybak" style. It worked in 2009. Countries need to move on. :lol:

08 - Austria 2003 are my faves :rofl: and Iceland seem to have a little clique of singers on rotation. Regina from Euroband was on stage in 2003 and 2005, Fredrik was there last year and Hera was there in 2008 and 2009 also :lol: .

14 - It was bizarre to see it do so well! But it was understandable, load of my friends liked it!

01 - Eastern Europe does tend to prefer ballads or folk entries yeah. I hope Hera will do well, but I'm expecting about 15th place.

03 - Violins really were "in" last year :lol: . 4 of the top 6 had a string instrument present on stage :lol:

14 - It's one of the few entries this year that I think could cross over to the UK charts. Azerbaijan, Moldova, Belgium, Sweden and an English version of Croatia are the others with hit potential here I reckon.

16 - It had a good impact on me from the off really. Sounds very much like Sting mixed with ABBA :lol:

47 - Funnily enough when I heard it I thought you'd love it. Seems like such a Hitstastic kind of Europoppy song :D

01 - It's quite nice, but Shetland and Iceland are more of a priority!

08 - I can't imagine there is that many music acts in Iceland no. I wonder who'll enter next year. Selma again? :lol:

14 - I know! and the whole audience at YCNY knew the words to it :lol: Just imagine Marija trying to get people to sing a long to Molitva :rofl:

43 - Some of the covers on that second album were really bizarre! I found the whole thing a bit boring though, which was proven when I charted an album track instead of the second single by accident :lol: . I have the Alice Deejay album, must listen to it again. Never heard the ATB album, might see if I can find it online. Candee Jay and Milk Inc's UK album are the ones I want but can never find going cheap :(

01 - It's quite nice, but Shetland and Iceland are more of a priority!

08 - I can't imagine there is that many music acts in Iceland no. I wonder who'll enter next year. Selma again? :lol:

14 - I know! and the whole audience at YCNY knew the words to it :lol: Just imagine Marija trying to get people to sing a long to Molitva :rofl:

43 - Some of the covers on that second album were really bizarre! I found the whole thing a bit boring though, which was proven when I charted an album track instead of the second single by accident :lol: . I have the Alice Deejay album, must listen to it again. 45. Agreed, oh yes I remember that mistake you made :lol: I like all three albums about the same amount actually for different reasons, maybe the first a bit more. I have all of those albums, I used to love the UK Milk Inc album, I know it was basically a greatest hits which is why the quality was so good :wub: They are one of I think only 3 acts to have ever had the entire top 3 of my chart one week, the others being Delta Goodrem and Girls Aloud.

01 - Eastern Europe does tend to prefer ballads or folk entries yeah. I hope Hera will do well, but I'm expecting about 15th place.

03 - Violins really were "in" last year :lol: . 4 of the top 6 had a string instrument present on stage :lol:

14 - It's one of the few entries this year that I think could cross over to the UK charts. Azerbaijan, Moldova, Belgium, Sweden and an English version of Croatia are the others with hit potential here I reckon.

16 - It had a good impact on me from the off really. Sounds very much like Sting mixed with ABBA :lol:

47 - Funnily enough when I heard it I thought you'd love it. Seems like such a Hitstastic kind of Europoppy song :D

 

1. It really does depend on how the semi finals go. There could be shock exits early on that nobody expected but I do hope Azerbaijan triumph. ^_^ It's alright for Germany as they automatically qualify.

 

3. I didn't really notice that. Alexander Rybak's use of the violin was the most prominent on the night - that was his gimmick. I still think overall the entries in 2009 were stronger but there's still time for this years bunch to make more of an impact on me (and I'm sure that will happen especially come Eurovision night).

 

14. Seeing 'Satellite' become a UK hit would be very impressive. However, like I posted in GD's chart thread the track reminds me of 'Jungle Drum' only with a slower tempo and that song bombed in the UK. To be honest, I didn't even realise it had been given a UK release.
