The climax has been very weak and unless something dramatic happens tomorrow night to save it. If this is the best climax Bryan Kirkwood can up with i would be very worried for some of his future work on the show.

I agree Dots scenes were great tonight and as always she is a legend.

The storyline has suffered as a result of the changeover in producers though as well as the re-writes in the wake of those prostitute deaths. I think Diederick was making it up as he went along unlike most stories like Archie's in which he decided right at the start what the outcome was going to be, and then because he didn't know in advance what would happen to Lucas, Bryan Kirkwood had to take it in a different direction (he himself said he wanted to focus more on Denise than Lucas, which was a good idea) and the writers suddenly had to change the tone and it just hasn't worked.

Not every big storyline can work though.

Tbh i've found EE a bit crap in general for a while now. Its been going downhill since the end of the whole Archie reveal in Feb imo

I'm glad you said that! If Rob or I had ... we'd have been hung, drawn and quartered. Metaphorically speaking of course. It has been sh/te though ... but then again ... apart from Emmerdale ... all the 'major' soaps have been a bit pants.

I've really enjoyed Eastenders lately...

HMMMM. Make your mind up.

I think it was on absolute top form in the weeks after the live - the Carol stuff and the Masood drama. The last time it was OMG WONDERFUL was when Mas chucked Zainab out of the house though and since then it has been coasting a bit. It's only natural though. All the soaps do in summer.

People can say Emmerdale is on top form but even that is wildly (Wyldly - HA) inconsistent at the minute.

I have been enjoying it ... but I also enjoy Diagnosis Murder and you cannot deny the absolute crapness of that program! You don't have to 'big up' the drama in EE to enjoy it ... enjoy it for what it is. And will people stop building June Brown up to be a superb actress ... she isn't! If Eastenders hadn't come along ... she'd still be an unknown. No wonder she'll never leave the soap ... if it wasn't for Eastenders ... she'd never get any work.

As to storylines .... I've loved the Masood stuff ... especially the development of Tamwar (one of the few young characters in Eastenders who doesn't have to be gobby to be funny). I think the Masood storyline was way, way better than these totally unbelievable trials and tribulations of Lucas / Denise. Having said that ... the guy who plays Lucas is drop-dead-gorgeous ... so even if he wasn't one of Eastenders better actors ... he'd have been excellent eye-candy.

And ... for the record ... the rounders scenes were the best of tonight's episode.

I didn't think it was that bad! It wasn't amazing drama or anything but it was hardly utter $h!te.. infact, everything that happened fitted in perfectly with the story. Why WOULD Lucas kill any of his own family? When his whole reasoning has been protecting his family - hence why he couldn't kill Denise..
I for one didn't want any more deaths, I just wanted a more satisfying conclusion to the story. Aside from Chelsea nobody even seemed shocked to see Denise!
Yeah, that part was pretty stupid LOL, but I thought it summed up the character of Lucas pretty well how it all happened.

I'm hoping that tonight's episode can make up for yesterday's slightly disapointing episode, hopefully a better end for the whole storyline.

Looking forward to the special on BBC Three later.

Lovely, poignant episode tonight. I always say the best ones are the aftermath epis. Lovely scenes with Chelsea/Roxy and Dot especially. Dot's rapping...
Bianca will be off screen (even more) over the Winter as Patsy Palmer is pregnant with her 4th child. Congrats to her!

Chelsea was on form tonight (and I always like her anyway). I really think she brings that extra something to the scenes she's in, such a shame she's leaving

before the week is out

. Loved her joking about calling the police as soon as Denise finds another man.
