Incase anyone's interested in taking part, there's a flash mob dance being organised in 10 cities across Europe with London being filmed on May 8th.

From their Facebook page:

SHARE THE MOMENT

Join us and dance in the biggest flash mob ever! We want thousands of people in 10 cities across Europe to come dance with us. If you’re young, old, tall, short, large, tiny, bald or long haired – WE WANT YOU.

Come share the moment and the biggest dance moment in history!

What?

In each of the participating cities we will gather hundreds or thousands of people who will learn a simple dance which will be filmed during one afternoon and broadcast during the show on May 29th. Through this Facebook community we will give you the information you need to be able to join and connect with other participants. We are planning to pull off the largest flash mob event in Europe with tens of thousands of people participating.

Why?

We want to share the Eurovision Song Contest, rather than just broadcast it!

With 18 000 people live on location in Oslo dancing - plus video footage of large Flash Mob Groups from 10 major cities, the song, the movements, the arena, all the cities will share a common musical experience together.

Be inspired, come dance with millions of people throughout Europe in front of their televisions! No less.

When and how?

Through this Facebook group you will get updated information about the local Flash Mob project in your city, you can also study the instruction videos and see pictures from different cities as we start filming.

Who?

You! This year you’re not only going to watch the show together with 124 million viewers – you will be a part of it. The famous Norwegian group MADCON performs the song GLOW written especially for this occasion.

Do you want to join us?

Would you want to miss this?

The instruction videos is now also available in HD 1080p for fullscreen here:

This looks fun, but I have got two left feet, the gay dance gene is totally missing in me, like the fashion gene...

I've noticed that a while ago! Shame Russia is so close-minded and unable to have anything new, i believe there are no dates for Moscow, thank God for that. Watched some flash mob done in a russian city on youtube... this old bag even called the police. :manson:

It looks AMAZING though! I wish I was a part of something like it! Have always wanted to partake in flashmob, the freeze-in-some-place-for-five-minutes one preferably :kink:

Really surprised they are going to Slovenia, and a bit surprised at the choice of Germany city - suppose they shouldn't all be capitals though.

Would like to take part, but probably won't be able to make it to London (or any of the other cities for that matter)

The funny thing is, I would have loved to do the Ljubljana one, as it is a wonderful city, but I'm not so fussed about doing the London one

And it's coming to Dublin. :cheer:

Another city has been announced, where the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest flash mob dance will take place. Dublin, city capital of Ireland, has been added to list with London (United Kingdom), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Oslo (Norway) and Düsseldorf (Germany). Other cities will be announced soon. The German flash mod was already recorded; watch the video to the right.

RTÉ, Dance Ireland and the Norwegian broadcaster NRK are hoping to stage the event at the Meeting House Square in Temple Bar on Thursday 6 May, with RTÉ's 'Fame: the Musical' dancers leading it. Speaking about the event, 'Fame: The Musical' judge Erica Gimpel said: "When I heard about this idea it brought me right back to when we took to the streets of New York and danced around cars, on top of cars and in front of a fountain in 'Fame'. It was such a wonderful time and I remember we had such fun that day. It is great to see this iconic image from the 1980s being given a modern Eurovision twist for 2010".

Those wishing to take part in the 'flashmob' dance are asked to turn up at the Meeting House Square in Temple Bar, Dublin at 8.30pm on Thursday 6 May to begin rehearsing the routine. Participants are asked to wear colorful clothing (that is not branded with signs or logos) and bring a bottle of water. More information of this special event can be found on a special Facebook page here.

The bolded bit has made me smile as I've seen these Fame contestants in action and they're quite talented! :o The location is great too, not too small, but not massive either. It's a modern development, but still surrounded by the old city. It's mostly used for outdoor cinemas, markets and has a few photography galleries. ^_^

Not sure how this went, but the Norwegian flag was flying high in Temple Bar today (close to where the flashmob was filmed). Also, there were lots of rainbow flags along the river and streets. Not sure if they're related. :heehee:

Indeed! :)

Here's a video of the Dublin flashmob:

They were good!

Was it really a 'flashmob' as it is? Because it's not really.

I guess not, it was planned months in advance, and there was a set dance routine

Anyway, the London one happened yesterday. I couldn't be go, but here's some footage:

Not that gutted I missed it tbh

Well, flashmobs do always have a set dance routine but, surely, not performed with INSTRUCTOR that counts and says what to do

Flashmobs should be absolutely spontaneous and take place in a space with other people who didn't know about this happening.

It just looks like a dance performed outdoors by many people, nothing more unfortunately. :(

I was in Temple Bar again last night, and the Norwegian flag was still there. :kink:
