April 10, 201015 yr To be fair, I dont think people will listen to the songs spread throughtout the two weeks. I do my listening all at once, I dont think I would listen to half, and then leave the rest for the week after. Maybe because it's a better method of comparing the songs to each other if you listen to them all in a row.
April 11, 201015 yr Author Yes, when I entered Nerina Pallot - When Did I Become Such A Bitch which I genuinely believed stood a very good chance of winning, even though it failed to reach the Top 5. Seeing how that brilliant song was only available via a near complete demo on her website, and came from on an album which subsequently failed to even reach the Top 40, by an artist who does not have an AF. Then I fail to see what was uninspired about that selection. I didn't say your selections were uninspired?
April 11, 201015 yr Yes, people are saying that with a big final, you'd get an extra week, but I think it's fairer to listen to them all in one go, otherwise, when you come to listen to the second batch, you can't remember all the songs from the first batch. But 40 votes are in, so it seems like BJSC 27 will have one big final

April 11, 201015 yr (On a separate note please could you correct the 'devestated' word in your sig, this mistake makes me want to tear my eyes off. :heehee: :( ) But...it's not a spelling mistake, so how can in be a mistake? And I can't change it, as I'm just quoting something that Rich said - something which I agree with ^_^
April 11, 201015 yr It is, it should be 'devastated'. It's my mistake, and I hardly ever make spelling mistakes :drama:

April 11, 201015 yr I thought the reason BJSC 26 was going to be the experimental contest was due to the time frame available?

You could have said the same with Eliza Doolittle Rollerblades which I really thought it would make the final, but it didn't just missed by a mere whisker  now take note Eliza Doolittle is about to have her first top 40 hit with Skinny Genes, if it wasn't for me Skinny Genes wouldn't have taken off on here. I really can't figure how Rollerblades missed now, maybe some members are not listening to the whole tracks. :(

I wouldn't vote for either song in a final either, Eliza's songs are nice but I don't rush back to listen to them, they're incredibly twee and I have to be in the mood to stomach them, particularly the whistling on the current single  I've had flops that I adore, moreso than some of my entries that do well - but I guess we don't all like the same things...
April 11, 201015 yr you technically listen to more songs with a semi final unless you don't relisten to songs that make the final. it's actually quite a bit more. you really can't handle listening to 10 more songs over the span of two weeks? Depends. I find listening to 15-20 songs one week and then another 10-15 fairly managable generally. Last time I listened to the my semi once and then the qualified songs once. I'm bored of BJSC, it's becoming a chore and I'm not finding the time to do it and with summer coming up I certainly won't. I'm not even sending particularly inspired entries myself any more. The last song I actually discovered was Olafur Arnalds and that was what, 4/5 months ago. I really don't see the point any more and new changes (especially if it's the hideous second chance) just gives me the perfect chance to pull out... A year ago I used to really look forward to the contest and listening to everything in the semi's even though I'd know I'd dislike a good proportion of the songs in it. Now I struggle to find the enthusiasm to give the songs a run through the day voting closes...
April 11, 201015 yr it's obviously down to your taste, but IMO last 2 contests were one of the best...before I used to discover maximum 10 songs but now it's always near 20 songs that I have never heard before.
April 11, 201015 yr Author I thought the reason BJSC 26 was going to be the experimental contest was due to the time frame available? It doesn't particularly matter either way - normal contests and experimental contests are exactly the same length.
