A lot of people comlained in the Lounge that the discuss what you're listening to thread is too pop oriented so I thought this might be a nice thing to try. If it fails we die knowing we tried!

I've been listening to loads of Woods and Kurt Vile lately, gotta love dat freak folk. Beach on the Moon (Recycled Lyrics) and Ring me to Sleep are especially m m m m.

I'm currently OBSESSED with Stoffer & Maskinen, the danish electro/rock/pop duo, which i think might be classified as indie, they're pretty much Delphic alike and Delphic are indie so...

I'm so gonna overwhore this song on BJ that everybody will start hating it even without listening. :drama:

Joanna Newsom is also one of my current obsessions. She's amazing, the latest album is perfect, no bad song on it.

Naturally, i'm in love with the new Futureheads album, so here is one of my fav tracks from the album that is getting a lot of my ear-time.

My most played tracks this year would be

Marina and the Diamonds - Numb, Obsessions - standouts from a good album

Joanna Newsom - '81 - still haven't got through the whole album yet

Hot Chip - I Feel Better - standout track on a frustratingly average album

Black Eyed Peas - Rock that Body - I generally dont like them but this is great

Armin van Buuren - In and Out of Love - superior trance

The Wild Beasts - Two Dancers - I wasn't really impressed by the album but this track is very very good

Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition - still playing it like mad. It just makes me feel good and it was played at the St Patrick's Day fireworks in Limerick and it worked so well

Blur - Caramel/Trimm Trabb - because I have 13 on my mp3 player and they are genius tracks

Orbital - Out there Somewhere

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance - played this for most of January. Haven't given it a spin in a while. I expect it has faded.

Broken Bells - Vaporize.. The best single of 2010 so far

Yeasayer - O.N.E.... Probably the second best and awesome pop track

LCD Soundsystem - Drunk Girls... A grower!

Lupe Fiasco - Solar Midnite...From 'The New Moon' Soundtrack. Brilliant rock/hip hop hybrid

The National - Afraid of Everyone...Great song by one of the greatest bands around

Caribou - Odessa...On my way to buy the album asap

I've heard so much good about I Feel Better..Need to listen to it.

Loving 'Sour Cherry' by The Kills after I found it on a CD that came free with the NME :P

+ I have to agree with Mr. Self Destruct! The new Futureheads album is insanely good.

Their single "Heartbeat Song" is out now and you can get it from iTunes.

George

Crystal Castles - Doe Deer

Not as absolutely mindblowing as 'xxzcuzx me' (or whatever name it has lol) but still amazing.

i love the direction they've been moving in since their first album. so good. they're also ridiculous live.
i'd love to see them. you know a band is good live when Trent Reznor hand picks them to open his final shows ever. not that im biased or anything.

I approve of this thread. I have nothing to add sadly, but a few of the songs/bands that have been posted are very good indeed.

That "USA Boys" is a cracking song.

Underrated topic.

This is brilliant

Everything Everything - MY KZ, UR BF

Jenny & Johnny - Scissor Runner

The Black Keys - Tighten Up

Latest albums by I Am Kloot and Belle & Sebastian

And not very indie but very good

Sara Bareilles - King of Anything

Really liking Darwin Deez's Constellations. Lovely song and the handclaps and wonky backing vocals on the chorus are ace.

need to big up Zola Jesus as well. Manifest Destiny off Stridulum is fabulous.
