ooh, I actually got an email from O2 saying about me going to see carmen and info about eating etc. handy! still worried about its size..the birmingham NEC seemed big enough to me!!

Think I'd better leave now to get to my seat in time!! I walk so slowly it might all be over before I get there.

I got that email as well. Didn't realise The Arena is home to so many other things.

What a horrible tone to that article. Nasty under currents. She couldn't say anything good with out adding her negative slant.

Have finally finished watching my Carmen DVD. Now I at least know what's going on, although there were some very strange english subtitles and the person playing Escamillo looked old enough to be drawing his pension!! Sue

The o2 don't allow drinks to be brought in to the arena - well they do but they take and throw away the lids, so don't buy anything you want for the journey home as you'd have trouble carrying it with no top.

I'm told the artists enter and leave by the staff entrance which is to the left after you come out of the exit from the tube by the O2, The words 'Staff Entrance' helps.

There are several letters o n the daily mail page in reply to this friday article. They make interesting reading. Here is one but do read the others, they come under the friday block of articles. Not sure if I am allowed to copy all.

I'm in orchestra in this production(I can hear him practising in the room next door actually!) and while he isn't doing a flawless job, he's doing a pretty damn good one considering his total lack of proper training. He has been humble and polite unlike some (Madam Jenkins springs to mind) and given a couple of years he could actually be a credible opera singer. And neil, he IS singing it in the right key and all the singers are miked-it's a 20000 seat stadium not Covent Garden! Perhaps you'd like to do it better.

muse backstage.

I like that letter - from someone (alledgedly) connected! I too am not looking for a flawless performance..If it was it would make darius a genius!! do hope he doesnt forget his words though..LOL the O2 is such a huge venue - for someone doing their first opera!!!!

I cant find the letters, I can only find the main page for today, ?? is there a link or directions..

The first half of last night was not always audible. It may have been in any language you like but the second half was much better and you could hear even with someone clearing their throat a few seats away. The O2 is just not suitable for opera really. You can't see the emotion in faces from most seats. We're quite a way away and will be on Sunday as well. I feel it loses something being in such a large space.
this is what worried me, I am hoping they turn the mikes up high..its hard to judge from the seating plan how far away we are, as we are in row s of 109, some twent rows back..but not knowing the scale of the stage etc. I porbably wouldnt have gone if the seats werent half price, but it will be an experience to go to the O2 - as long as I hear Darius...I can suffer not hearing the others too well.
www.dailymail.com. coffeebreak comes up with picture of cheryl cole. To right there are headlines and at bottom of them more headlines. Press more headlines and at bottom of them lists other days, put in friday 21 in box and then scroll down to Darius' headline and the letters are at the bottom. Sorry am no good at links.
thanks, I went to darius' face book, found the link on others page to the article and the commnets were all underneath..why I didnt think of that earlier,
Hope all of you that are going enjoy and that Darius will surely be great.

yay, darius was great. what a day, luckily o2 has air conditioning..

it was very busy, - and my dream came true..darius in matador outfit..spectacular. have to add i cant face another opera unless darius is in it a lot more, sopranos...my ears hurt tbh. darius' voice was spinetingling though, he was born to be on stage -mesmerising a

Thanks PIP been waiting to hear. Glad it was up to expectations and that it was very busy, was a bit worried re that as it holds so many.Did his voice come over well in such a large arena.
The show was excellent Darius held his own very well didnt get drowned out buy the other opera stars at all, we went with friends who have never seen him before they were very impressed. It was also great to bump into a few peeps from the site had a great day.

Such a shame I had to pass up the oppertunity to go this today due to money and time restraints :(

Hope all had a really good time anyway!

Carmen at the O2 was fun. And I was very impressed by Darius! First time I've been there since it was that crappy Millennium Dome.

Carmen at the O2 is one step away from Carmen on Ice. I'm not saying that would be a bad thing...

The O2 is a fascinatingly huge place, not been for 10 years and loved it then.

....doesn't take a lot to please me :)

The staged area was far too spread for everyone to see what was going on.

Our seats, expensive and supposedly good view, but we were near the orchestra.

Most of the scenes were done at the opposite end so not very easy to see.

However, Darius was spectacular in his Matador outfit.

He acted very well in the fight scene.

I heard all the words in his songs....which I couldn't for some of the 'opera' singers.

I much prefer musicals to opera but would go again if Darius did another opera.

Sorry we never saw you PiP, we did look out for you.

Good to meet a few others there.

Thanks for the lift to Euston Sue :)

Hope you got home ok....bet your tired!
