Of course they were - I didn't look at the date, just the day. Sorry.

All the dates are crossed out. I can't imagine they'd cancel just one of them.

But the others all say 'fully booked'/

The 30th is just simply crossed out, with no name of who is appearing.

It does seem strange, doesn't it!! Maybe they are still waiting to hear from Darius...

What about asking Darius via his Facebook page - he does sometimes answer queries...

I would hate to think we are all getting excited about nothing!!

When I asked they said he was still appearing - I posted their reply earlier in the thread. They haven't said it had changed. Spam would be rather upset if it had - she's booked her train journey.

From Whats on TV interview with Denise Van Outen

"And what guests have you got lined up?

"We've got Jane Asher, Nick Knowles and Darius Campbell and I'm excited about meeting US singer Kelly Rowland. There's also a performance from new singer Eliza Doolittle, who is in fact the granddaughter of my old stage-school teacher Sylvia Young. I held her when she was Betsy's age. How weird is that?"

Darius Campbell To Perform At Crewe Carnival

June 24 2010

Popstar to Operastar winner, Darius Campbell, will perform at this year’s Crewe Carnival. The platinum-selling singer and actor, who shot to fame after reaching the finals of Pop Idol in 2001 and toured with Shakira, will perform a number of his hits at the event on Saturday, August 28 at the King George V Playing Fields in Crewe.

Darius is an acclaimed actor; having featured in the West End productions of Chicago, Guys and Dolls and Gone With The Wind as well as a role in this year’s production of Carmen at The O2 Arena in London.

In February of this year, Darius won much public affection with his powerful and emotive performances in the ITV show Popstar to Operastar in which the 29 year old wowed the audience and judges with his renditions of ‘Nessun Dorma’ and ‘The Impossible Dream’.

This year’s Crewe Carnival, organised by Cheshire East Council’s Outdoor Events Team and the Friends of Queens Park will be a free, ticketed event. Darius will perform as part of a full day’s entertainment which will include performances from local community groups and other acts to be announced.

Tickets will be available from Crewe Lyceum Theatre from Monday, August 2.

Cheshire East Councillor, Andrew Knowles, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Health and Wellbeing, said:

“This is a fantastic coup for all those who are organising this year’s Carnival. Darius is a popular and versatile performer with lots to offer. His success in Popstar to Operastar is testament to his all-round appeal. This year’s Carnival is something I am very much looking forward to; it is a highlight of Crewe’s social calendar, with a long history in the town.”

Cheshire East Council’s Outdoor Events Manager, Andrew Latham, added:

“Darius fits the bill perfectly; he has great talent and personality and is sure to be great entertainment on the night. There’s a lot to look forward to at this year’s Crewe Carnival and the day will be filled with lots of local talent too. It’s not too late for local community groups and businesses to get involved in this year’s Carnival, just contact me on 01270 537 846.”

If it wasn't for the 'on the night' comment, I may have even felt I could try for that one.
Well he certainly believes in variation - from £300 a ticket plus vat for the grand pris ball to now a free ticketed event for crewe carnival.

But at least he's listened to the appeals for more gigs in the middle of England.
Not checked yet but it is the Bank Holiday weekend..........people may already have made other arrangements.

There's nothing he can do about that. I just wish I knew what time he will be there.

I meant the people I would come with may have made other arrangements.

Perhaps we will have more info later as regards D's appearance time.

I'm off work this day, so if funds allow, I'd like to attend if possible. Is this event just for locals or is it designed to draw in tourism and hence available for us to attend, does anyone know?

Bloody hell.....its too far away!!!! argh!..........typical, Darius is doing something in London next month, but i cant afford to go...........then he's going to be doing something for free in August but its too faraway!! ARGGGGGGHHHH !!!! :(

Why oh why cant it be the other way round!..........*goes of to scream and shout* !!
