I agree that's its upsetting when anyone speaks against Darius but at times it's hard to defend him. People who have met Darius and witnessed how caring and attentive he is in their presence will have a different opinion to those who follow his career and haven't been fortunate enough to have met him in person. They can only judge his interaction with his fans via websites, where sadly he doesn't put in the effort.

After being off the radar to many for a very long period Darius felt the need for his fans to vote for him in PSTOS and was forthcoming in asking them to do so. To some, rightly or wrongly, it will feel like he now ignores them until he may need their support again. He may be busy but no more so than many other artists. Don't get me wrong I think Darius is mega talented and a lovely man but I feel he needs to work on his PR and if he promises an album which doesn't happen (year after year) at least have the good grace to provide follow up information and maintain contact with his fans during the quite times, especially if he expects them to be around next time he needs their support.

It was the bit bout caring bout his fans and followers that got me. Ive met him a few times and he does care bout all his fans very much. I think if he read that bit it would rely upset him to see some people think he doesnt care. He does

As has been mentioned Polly, if someone's not been fortunate enough to meet D, then all they have to go on is his sporadic internet contacts, and even die hard fans like us have become frustrated at the lack of info supplied.

He does big band well, and I would still go see him if that was the direction he went, but it's really not what I would like from him. If he decided on another stint in Chicago(or some other show) at least we would know where he was, so we could say hello.

I hope all who see him at Kempton Park enjoy the show and please give us a full report :)

I'm afraid I have to agree with both you and Paul. :( I hope Meg gets a chance to speak to Avril, I think that might be the only way we find anything out. Sue

There wasn't a word from him about either of his last 2 appearances in America.

He's going to be back at Vibrato's next month according to a post on his facebook.

I know it's unlikely we would be in the right place at the right time to see him perform in America but most of us are still interested (just, in my case) enough to try to keep in touch with what he's doing.

He doesn't make it easy and the fact is, the public perception is that he takes his UK fans for granted.

I don't think he'd give it a second thought, to be honest.

Dont get me wrong id love the new album soon but it will happen wen it happens. its takin time but it doesnt mean hes stopped carin bout us. I no its frustrating but we shouldnt give up on him i never will.
I honestly don't think that he 'cares' about us on a personal level. He shares information when it suits him and has been stringing us along for years about the third album. I'd far sooner he was honest with us about that. It seems that he does only get in touch when he wants something- although to be fair, he's in the business to make money, so why shouldn't he? It doesn't mean that we have to like it, though. When he asked for votes for PSTOS I didn't bother. Yes, I watched the programme but I wasn't going to run up a big phone bill just so he could win a reality show. I am still a fan and I would love to see him perform again- but I want to see him perform his own music, not someone else's.

He sang a new song. Said he can't wait until he can do more but since what happens can change, he doesn't want to say what's next as people will be disappointed if it doesn't happen. He hasn't forgotten us. It's very frustrating for him too - more so than for us. I'm prepared to wait.

Avril was tired after a long journey to Kempton Park but looked well and was as lovely as ever. Aria looks better than ever and seemed very happy.

Brian was there with the Barrison's Swing Band. The set was sharper and the emphasis on each tune was slightly different. I thing it was the best of this type I've seen. He'd been sipping lemon and honey before the show as his throat was so bad. Only the odd note showed any sign of roughness and I liked the effect anyway.

Did I mention he sang a new song?

Morning everyone

Well... the rain was pouring down going along the M25 but when we arrived at Kempton Park it was dry and it actually stayed dry for the rest of the day!!! It was pretty cold though!!lol! Met up with Meg, Wendy, Val, Anne-Marie and Jackie but..... where was everyone else?!! I thought I would see a lot of familiar faces as we had had to wait so long for a Darius performance! Darius is such a natural performer, he seemed so relaxed (happy!!lol!), even though, as Meg commented, it was obvious when he tried to hit a couple of high notes that he was suffering with his throat! Of all the 'big band' songs I love his version of 'Feeling Good' and 'Fever' is a pretty close second. He was on stage for an hour and the performance was 50/50 'big band' and his own songs which I call 'pop' meets 'big band' :D He sang 'Ba da Bing Ba da Boom' (is that right?), Jack, Crazy Love, Devil in You and Colourblind and a new song called 'Again' which seemed more in his 'old' style and really good  His 'new record' was mentioned several times! :D

I wish that I had been able to speak with him but it wasn't to be this time  and I hope that he looks after his voice for the next couple of days if he is going to sing live with the orchestra on PSTOS on Sunday.

All in all it was a very enjoyable day, it was wonderful to see D again and it was even better as we did really well on the horses too!!

I hope there will be other chances to see D again this year and that we will hear soon what we have to look forward to.

When Darius met us, he was how we'd be with old friends we don't really keep in contact with but pick up where we were. It's a hard time for him although he's happy. We hadn't been forgotten. He is concentrating on what he wants to happen. I hope he's successful.

wonder what he is hoping for wrok related, I am sure there are some things personal related he is hoping for too, now they have their new house! and i do hope his voice is OK for PSTOPS..I long to see him on top form and showing how it should be one once again!

curious as to the new song, and as usual waiting for this album, that seems to be forever coming "next" year!

didnt make the gig as it was daughters last school performance before she leaves, so I couldnt let her down. though as they were doing music through the decades and I drifted away during the hey jude..LOL

thanks, he looks great, but I can see he looks as if he has a cold or something, hope it clears for sunday, nothing worse than a sore raspy throat,
i do hope he appears..and i do wonder what he will sing, ... i can see it being the one he did in the final, but would be so good to hear something new.
