July 17, 201014 yr Author The History of the Big Band The supporting act for Deana Martin and the Rat Pack is Highlights from 'The History of the Big Band' show. Featuring Barisons Swing Band and their band leader Pete Long. Under the direction of Musical Director, Pete Long, 'The History of the Big Band', offers a nostalgic trip back through the times of the Big Band and Swing Era. The scores have been meticulously researched and the band perform famous tunes from the Worlds greatest Big Band leaders including; Harry James, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Woody Herman & Buddy Rich The show is narrated by our swinging vocalist who recreates the legendary vocals of Sinatra and Harry Connick Junior. The scene is set in the “La Vegas” Night Club where our vocalist tends the bar and tells the story of the Big Band Leaders to the customers sat near by. Occasionally they take to the floor to show the moves of the era in some energetic and fast paced routines, including the celebrated Lindy-Hop. The use of Sinatra vocal charts leads the audience on a musical journey from one bandleader to another as history shows us, Frank Sinatra began his careers with Harry James, before moving to being the featured singer with Tommy Dorsey’s band. Later on in his career, he performed and recorded with Duke Ellington, Count Basie in Las Vegas and with Woody Herman at the Madison Square Gardens. A cleverly narrated show, the History of the Big Bands features a series of first class soloists from each instrumental section, covering the famous solos as played by the original bandleaders. The History of the Big Band is performed by the world class 16 piece Barisons Swing Band. Darius is a producer of the 'History of the Big Bands', as Aldo was of GWTW. At the moment there are no dates announced for the Deana Martin show. Her tour was 2008. This charity show may even have been in 2008 - there's no year given. Edited July 18, 201014 yr by megham
July 18, 201014 yr I think the Bateman's charity show that I mentioned earlier was in 2008. But the show is written and owned by Barisons, so I would presume the same concept would apply to the new show, although D as producer will have stamped his own mark on it. We'll have to wait and see (as per usual).
July 21, 201014 yr Author A bit more about the Crewe one RSS News for you | What's this? Vavoom confirmed in line-up for Crewe Carnival’s live music event Jul 21 2010 by Will Harris, Crewe Chronicle TWENTY five years on from Live Aid. You know – big gig, global jukebox, loads of bands, Bob Geldof swearing and so forth. Roll on a couple of years after Queen stole that show in front of around two billion viewers and Crewe went about staging its own grande ensemble. Some great brain at the then Borough Council decided to lump together the best bands for a huge event at the Carnival. And picking a headliner was fairly easy as the town’s most successful export was on the scene. Having supported the likes of Happy Mondays, The Trainset enjoyed their own chart success during the late 80’s and early 90’s. It worked then and it might just work now. Two decades on and frontman Booty is looking forward to a return with Vavoom on the big day – Saturday, August 28. “Weirdly enough I’d been saying it was 20 years ago since we did the Carnival with The Trainset,” he exclaimed. “We’d been on tour with the Mondays and James and we were fit as. “Someone asked us to headline a festival at the Park and it was great. “It’s nice to go kind of go back and be a part of it.” With Volume getting involved, it’s paved the way for Vavoom, The Retrospective and Tom Seals to represent a diverse pool of quality local musicians on the bill. Booty’s delighted to see a return to the old formula. “We’re glad to be going back and it’s good to see local bands are getting back into it,” he added. “When I told the lads, they all said it was brilliant. When you’re used to playing smaller venues, it’s a great gig for us.” Legendary on the local circuit, Vavoom have a sound that transcend generations. Seeing them win over a large contingent of young punk fans during last year’s Volume Festival just rammed home that fact with a big hammer. There’s little doubt that the trio yield a rare piece of magic. Both old and young get what their about; their rock ‘n’ roll rampage influenced by the likes of Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry, Stray Cats and the Brian Setzer Orchestra generates a real feel-good factor that is extremely hard to replicate. So we’re talking diversity here, the kind of which Booty, Chris Large and Vince ‘The Viper’ Whitmore are always keen to dish out He remains humble on the band’s broad appeal. “If it’s done right, everyone likes it,” he continued. “It’s got an energy and enthusiasm that has got lost somewhere. “People have forgotten how to play that style of music or it’s ended up underground.” Popstar to Operastar winner Darius Campbell headlines a full-day of music and festivities at the King George V Playing Fields. Free tickets will be available from The Box and The Lyceum Theatre on Monday, August 2. For details on Volume’s input at this year’s Crewe Carnival, contact their offices at Frederick House, Princes Court, Beam Heath Way, Nantwich, CW2 6PQ. July 22, 201014 yr That'd be good. We're hoping a friend can get us some. It is down to finish early enough for me to get home for Mum's bedtime. I believe the actual finish time for Darius is around 10pm if your talking about the Crewe event Meg, and there are fireworks afterwards too!
July 22, 201014 yr Author I went by the time given on his events page - 12:00 - 17:00. What a waste of money.
