I think it's about time we've had one of these threads, to discuss the old and new eurocheese hits that are so popular amongst members here.

 

I'll start with this #2 hit in France, and a big hit in Netherlands and Belgium:

Here's one of my favourites, a hit throughout Europe, never understood why it wasn't a hit here: Chilli Feat. Carrapicho - Tic Tic Tac

 

No that is awful. This is the hit version in most of Europe:

 

 

The original is the best.

The version you posted was just a cheap "Macarena-zation" of a wonderful song imo.

It's basically the same song, just in English. I'm sure the Chilli version was a bigger hit in Germany and France...

 

Anywhoo, maybe you like this one better, Paradisio - Bailando (originally from Belgium but huge in Spain, France and Italy):

 

the Chili version was a bigger hit in Germany, but the original was a much bigger hit in France, a #1 hit in fact. It's not the fact it's in English, the whole thing is terrible. The beat is totally Macarena inspired, the lazy dance routine, the bad portuguese, awful.

Now that's much better, and it's the original version. Of course Germany loves the 2nd rate remixes, so obviously Loona's version was bigger there. Although at least her version was pretty good.

But Paradisio's version was huge in Spain, Italy, Netherlands, France, Belgium and was #1 in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway :)

Wow, didn't know about the Scandinavian success. Again, why was neither version a hit here?

 

This one is still a guilty pleasure for me. A huge hit in Spain in Summer 2000, but actually a british band - One Track Mind - I Like U

 

Neither version was a UK hit, sorry :(

 

Ooooh I remember that, it was on the MTV Europe playlist back then.

Hence why I said 'minor hits here' :P I bought both on single (import naturally) way before they were talked about being released here. I haven't heard those other French Affair songs before no.

I know like NONE of the songs you posted Dré :lol: OK I know Web and AC One, but I didn't know about them at the time... Will have to check them out!

 

Another of my favourites no-one mentioned is Neja, her biggest European hit was Restless (released in the UK too but flopped) but my favourite track is Time Flies from 2001...
