May 11, 201015 yr Thanks TT - Looks like he's had another clear-out  A host of A-list stars have joined forces with Oxfam and Selfridges to set-up, stock and staff Britain’s biggest charity pop-up shop. From Friday 14 May to Thursday 20 May the Ultralounge will play host to The Oxfam Curiosity Shop – a unique pop-up shop run by celebrities from Annie Lennox to Zoë Ball, with all proceeds going to Oxfam. The shop will be curated by an elite team, including Whistles CEO Jane Sheperdson, and will be stocked with handpicked vintage and high-end gems donated by stylish stars, as well as clothing, accessories, books, homewares and art previously donated to Oxfam shops. You'll be able to browse fantastic one-offs; from a special collection of (Mrs Colin Firth) Livia Firth’s red carpet dresses to items donated by the likes of Alexa Chung, Helen Mirren, Will Young and Natalie Imbruglia. There will also be designer contributions from Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Roger Vivier, and many more. Located in the Ultra Lounge on the lower ground floor of Selfridges London all proceeds from The Oxfam Curiosity Shop will go directly to women’s projects supported by Oxfam. These projects protect and support vulnerable women: campaigning against violence, empowering them to fight HIV and AIDS and offering the chance of education. May 14, 201015 yr Just heard on D that Spider has been up to Selfridges and bought something and is going to raffle it. Mary has said she got a text and it's something from a shoot for the LIG album. Looking forward to reading what Spider has to say.
May 14, 201015 yr I suppose you've seen Spider's report, but I'm posting it anyway:- Mary - the label said "Worn on album shoot for Let it Go".....And I'm raffling....more in a bit...story time first... So today Carly and I went to selfridges..... And despite my protestations we had to queue because the frigging shop didn't open until around 11:30. I'd in fact disappeared from the queue to go shopping elsewhere in selfridges by the time they actually opened but on receiving a text from carly, hotfooted it down to the Lower ground Floor. There were racks and racks of clothes all round with a central area of celebs donated stuff. In the very central area were the items being auctioned on ebay...beyonce assymetric dress, Natalie Imbruglia handbag, several Livia Firth dresses and there was The Waistcoat. With Carlie stroking it! Apparently that was all she could find of Will's and had been told by one of the shop assistants that all Will stuff was labelled by him ( bless - seemed to me that he was the only one to do his own tags apart from Annie lennox on one dress) and we'd have to search the racks ourselves. Ladies , Carlie when in sniffing distance of a Will related item is a sight to behold. I bow before her! She immediately worked her way methodically through the whole of three large clothes racks examining every piece (in vain) for a Will label, while I sauntered around looking vaguely at stuff. And wondering in awe about the slimness that is evidently Mrs firth.... Meanwhile Carlie was on a mission and annoyed by the lack of any Will items got hold of another assistant to ask about their whereabouts ....and was rewarded by an armful of clothes coming from the back with Will's brown tags clearly in sight. We pounced immediately the garments had been hung on the rack.... What stamina Will fans have!! :yahoo: And the raffle is now up in WC. :cheer: Edited May 14, 201015 yr by chrysalis
May 14, 201015 yr Thanks Chrysalis - I was hoping someone would get a chance to go up there. She bought a white shirt that Will had pleaded on the label for someone to look after  Here's another instalment: * Teeny tiny emerald green polo shirt for £95, with label saying "Will" * Black velvet jacket ( 38" short - no wonder they always look so short in length!) with something like "vintage black velvet! Will" on the label. £125 I think. * Black burberry shirt - "Will" - £100+ I think * A quite horrid beige safari jacket (sorry will, but no wonder that went in the oxfam bag!)- again with handwritten label - can't remember what it said or how much * a pair of grey trousers which I shall leave their new owner to describe * a white shirt from unconditional with pin tucking - think with just "will" on the label *a white shirt from D&G also pintucked with black buttons and the bestest label. "It pains me that I cannot fit this shirt. Please look after it! Willx". Well what was I to do? Yes, dear ladies I bought it....and in the queue to pay we noticed that, while it had clearly been washed, it had sweat marks under the arms.... * a two piece item....from Topman (!) ....tight grey trousers with a jacket of a lighter shade, with dark applique edging around the lapels and down the trouser leg...."As worn for the Let it Go album shoot, Will". A Will suit ladies and gentlemen....and I just couldn't resist buying it, so after Carly and I had gone our separate ways I nipped back and purchased it, having been assured by Bumblie and MaryW that i would more than cover my costs (£175) if i raffled it. I'll do a separate thread on that. Think that's all but Carlie collared yet another sales assistant and learnt that a few more items had been held back for later in the week. We tried our best to be allowed to see them but twas not possible. And so we stood in a queue to pay beside signs reminding us of the good we were doing in buying goods for Oxfam - education for girls and every £15 buying a desk and chair in a school room. Well, between carly and I, I hope they have big classrooms!! I paid my monies to a tall , obviously gay male assistant who examined the label and read it out. "Yup! I said, sad isn't it, I'm buying a Will Young cast off"...." Not sad at all" he immediately retorted. "i just LOVE Will Young"...so we spent a happy few minutes discussing whether will had a boyf....while he folded and refolded my shirt an unnecessary number of times.... Love the last para  Edited May 14, 201015 yr by munchkin
May 15, 201015 yr Thanks for bringing the rest over munchkin. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Spider and Carly were around. Edited May 15, 201015 yr by chrysalis
