Less than two weeks to go! I basically just watched a couple of "recap" vids on youtube and made a prediction based on them. It was all a bit rushed, so I could be miles off in terms of accuracy :lol:

 

Semi Final 1:

The top 6 should all comfortably qualify. After that it's a bit of a mystery. Slovakia seem to be favoured by many, but it really didn't stand out in the running order. As much as I hate it, Bosnia will probably get the rock vote and just sneak in. Russia really could go either way. Malta could be a surprise too and may possibly take Russia's place, but I do think Latvia will fall short whatever happens.

 

Semi Final 2:

I think we may have a similar situation as in 2008 with so many favourites in one semi. I think Croatia will win the semi based on their late draw, but will probably end up in a runner-up spot in the final, with Germany and Azerbaijan fighting it out for victory. Netherlands could make it this year, it sounds fantastic after Ukraine! So maybe Anna will miss out after all. The juries might help her just sneak through though, but it'll be touch and go I think.

That all looks about right, but I can't see Slovakia missing the final. And for some bizarre reason, I don't see the UK coming last.

Slovakia is an iffy one, but right now I'm thinking it'll fail to qualify based on her poor live vocal in the NF, a poor draw and the fact Slovakia have never been successful in the contest, even in 1998 when they had a very strong entry.

 

However, if indeed she can pull of a great live vocal and have a captivating stage show then she may sneak through.

As much as I love it, I'll be amazed if Switzerland make it through.

Mind you, their nul points in the 2004 semi-final was well deserved :heehee:

Switzerland were unlucky to be drawn in SF 2. They'd be surefire qualifiers from SF 1 as would the Netherlands, and possibly Cyprus... and Bulgaria too for that matter :lol:

Previous results don't really matter, now we have 50/50 in the semi's as well, but I don't see Switzerland qualifying either. 2007 really should've been their year :snif:

 

 

 

Switzerland 2008 and 2009 were in my top 5 of their respective years :cry: DJ Bobo was great as well!

I think the Netherlands can easily qualify over one of the "dead certs" especially considering Sieneke's performing after Ukraine - Ik Ben Verliefd sounds like a winning song in the recap video :lol: .

Il Pleut De l'Or is in my top 5 THIS year, let alone any of the others :smoke:

 

(oh, and The Highest Heights was my favourite for a while last year)

Russia could qualify with that song, but the presentation of it is just way too dull. I think Malta will snatch their place. Finland could be in trouble, it's between them and Slovakia. Latvia downwards I can't see qualifying at all.

To be honest, I don't have a clue what will happen :lol: . Any of them could get through apart from Slovenia, Lithuania and Cyprus. Denmark looking very weak after the first rehearsal and looking most likely to be the favourite that doesn't get through.

I haven't really watched the rehearsals, but I think Cyprus could sneak through in 10th. If the singer is Welsh, maybe he'll get some votes from the UK :) I do like the song, but it's a bit boring compared to some others

If Firefly can't qualify, then this year's song is a near certain failure I think. I could well be wrong, as it is a nice song, but I don't think has much potential.

I have to agree there. "Firefly" was in my top 10 last year, and to think it missed out to something like...Croatia :(

I liked Croatia :o It was Lithuania that I was most disgusted at qualifying last year :lol:
