I liked Croatia :o It was Lithuania that I was most disgusted at qualifying last year

Lithuania's song was boring looking back although I recall liking it at one point. The UK and Ireland voted big for it of course what with the diaspora  Luckily not as big as we/they would have done though - thank god for the juries! Plus it was the worst final opener we've had in a very long time. Actually what opened the 2006 final, I remember literally all of the crap being in the first seven or eight songs that year and then it went massively and quickly uphill from there - I can't imagine how many people turned off in the first 45 minutes though  Croatia's I never liked last year - not a fan.

Lithuania was average/boring, but better than Croatia. On the bright side, Croatia stopped the even worse song from Serbia from getting through.

I loved in 2007 when Linda Martin struggled to keep her laugh in as she said "And our 12 points go to... *snigger* Lithuania!" 4Fun - 4Boredom more like :heehee:

Oh God yeah, the 2006 opening acts were so dull :(

Switzerland

Moldova

Israel

Latvia

Norway

Spain

Malta

Although norway was amazing, and I quite liked Malta apart from the complete offkey-ness of it

God, that Serbian entry was dire. THANK GOD the juries stopped that getting through!

I have to admit a slight disappointment when Norway got through :kink:

 indeed, that song was so utterly non-descript :drama:

Ah yes, all of those apart from Norway were awful for me - including Malta, dire dire vocals and the song was nowhere near as good as Another Summer Night in my opinion.

I loved 4Fun :( Wonderfully laidback summer track.

Croatia and Israel were the only two tracks I didn't care for from last year's final. It's a shame semi 1 is so dire, it's already guaranteed this year's final isn't going to be as satisfying :(

Indeed. Bosnia, Greece, Malta and possibly Russia may all get through by default :( . Switzerland, Bulgaria, Cyprus and whoever out of Netherlands/Israel/Denmark/Sweden all deserve to be there over those 4 from SF 1.

I see Greece and Malta getting through by default. Even if all my dreams for SF1 came true and Switzerland made it through over Greece then we'd still have to tolerate Malta being in there :(

Malta's song isn't that bad, in fact when I was playing the CD it felt like pleasant background music - sadly that's all it is, it has no chance in hell of winning thank god, but it would be about as worthy a finalist as What If We was last year. And the last minute is much better than the first two.

What If We was another one from last year I didn't really care for...it's a shame that Vodka and Vertigo both DNQed, as they were fantastic and creative entries - My Dream and What If We really aren't

On relistening, I actually quite like My Dream, but I can't actually warm to it. The verses are too generic...if I want a generic ballad done well, I'll listen to Poland 2008.

Agreed, although I still didn't like either as much as their 2002-2004 trio of 7th Wonder, To Dream Again (I was it's only fan :drama:) and On Again...Off Again

Poor orange woman, having to share last place with the 'cats nails down the blackboard' band from Germany and our own disco dancing dustbin dad -_-

I can't remember if I liked To Dream Again. I've completely forgotten it! I do adore 7th Wonder (not as much as I once did though - it's no longer my favourite ESC song of all time), and was quite partial to On Again...Off Again as well! I did love Angel in 2005 as well...

Your love for Andorra and Malta 2004 has always baffled me :kink:

I also loved Vodka and Vertigo, both should have qualified. What If We sounded like a theme tune to the News, especially the dying seconds of it. Such an underwhelming song, especially after the mighty Angel from 2005.

It was a woman on a piano singing 'don't let me fall apart, please don't break my heart I love you' - I really liked it, it was odd that the bottom 3 in 2003 was the previous year's top 3 all falling down 23 odd places

Yeah, 7th Wonder was also my favourite of all time until Maria came along in 2008, it's still in my top 3 though, along with Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit  Stay The Night is my favourite Eurovision connected song however, shame it didn't make it to the contest :( I loved the pop meets opera vocals in that, which they then swapped places to sing in the different style - it was a minor obsession of mine at the time  Angel was nice too yep, far better than What If We. The most ridiculous thing about the latter was the outro that sounded like a dated news bulletin intro in the ESC mix :/

Haha, they're great - remind me of college - Andorra 2004 was criminally underrated in my opinion, so energetic and the bridge and chorus were great. I didn't understand what she was saying in the bridge but it sounded like 'I guess the need for...' so I have it in my head as that

Weird that we both said the same thing about What If We there, we must have discussed this last year

It's an OK song, but I always used to skip it to listen to Albania :kink:

That was great too  2004 always gets forgotten I think, apart from Ruslana and Lane Moje. But it really was quite a good year for me all things considered. Remember that bizarre orange Slovenian duo who got married the night of the semis or something - I even loved that, it made #3 in my chart

 I do remember them, Platin? Or something like that. That was a horrid entry :( . I LOVED Belarus that year "Yoooo my pieerrr" :kink: Was devasted when they finished with like 10 points, and I also adored the Estonian tribal ladies. Think they lost out because Ruslana did tribal so much better
2004 had some fantastic songs! I still have an irrational love for Finland and Belarus which I can't quite explain :heehee: Other than those two, I adored Ukraine, Serbia & Montenegro, Sweden (the anal sex song!), Albania (), Macedonia and Belgium from that year...
