July 10, 200619 yr Author The Music Box Tour http://www.geocities.com/visionsomariah/music_box_tour_pic.jpg Well this is Mariah's least known about tour, which took place in 1993. Here are audios, including Vanishing + Now That I Know (Live): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SV44KPVM The Dates November 3- Miami Arena; Florida November 9- Worcester Centrum; Massachusetts November 17- Rosemont Horizon; Illinois November 23- Universal Ampitheatre; Los Angeles, CA December 2- Philidelphia Spectrum; Pennsylvania December 10- Madison Square Garden; New York The Set List Emotions Love Takes Time Now That I Know Without You Dreamlover Someday I Don't Wanna Cry Vanishing Make It Happen Hero All In Your Mind Dreamlover Just Be Good To Me I'll Be There Vision of Love Anytime You Need A Friend Emotions (Closure) *Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Info on the tour Mariah's first concert tour was short and sweet, taking her to six different US cities in five weeks. Mariah received poor reviews for the first show, in Miami. In several interviews, she has said that the show was not the best because it was her first show. However, the harsh reviews inspired her to go out and prove that she could give a good show- and she did just that. The second show, outside of Boston, was spectacular and earned her praise. The tour was very simple, placing emphasis on what had earned Mariah her success- her voice and her songs. Mariah dressed in black for most of the show (Black was her trademark color at that point). She sang all of her hit singles, with the interesting exception of "Can't Let Go." That song is a fan favorite, and it's not know why Mariah did not make it a part of her show. In addition to the hits, Mariah also sang the album tracks "Vanishing," "All In Your Mind" and "Now That I Know." She also performed a cover of the SOS Band's hit "Just Be Good to Me." Mariah never ended up recording that song, but she did include it in the Daydream Tour three years later. For the final show, at New York's Madison Square Garden, Mariah decided to add a Christmas song since it was the holiday season. For the encore, she put on a short red dress and sang "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." Mariah also showed people some personallity on the tour (watch out Tommy :o): During the New York show Mariah also made the annoucement that she would be donating the proceeds from the "Hero" single to the families of the victims of the Long Island Rail Road shooting that had just taken place. She dedicated her performance of the song to the men who took down the gunman, giving a very emotional introduction during which she was very noticably fighting back tears: "I'd like to dedicate this next song to the men who subdued the gunman on the Long Island Rail Road this week, and prevented him from killing even more people. You know I grew up on Long Island and I took the Long Island Rail Road thousands of times, and a lot of people very close to me take the Long Island Rail Road every day; and I was shocked and horrified by this tragedy. SO I decided to donate the funds from the sales of this next single to the families of the victims of the Long Island Rail Road tragedy. It's called Hero." http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y287/KalenD/df_1.jpg Edited July 10, 200619 yr by KDavies
July 10, 200619 yr Author The Daydream World Tour This was Mariah's first world tour, after the tiny Music Box Tour. http://www.geocities.com/visionsomariah/daydreamtour8.jpg In January 1996, Mariah took her show overseas to Japan, which has always been a big market for her. Her Japanese fans responded overwhelmingly well to the idea of seeing Mariah in concert. They sold out 3 shows in just two hours and they broke an attendance record which was previously set by the Rolling Stones. It has been said that an extra one thousand seats had to be set up at the Tokyo Dome to accomodate ticket demand. Mariah once again based her show around her hit singles, and included plenty of new songs from the "Daydream" album, including the fan favorite "Underneath the Stars." Again, she performed the SOS Band's "Just Be Good To Me." Mariah added an interesting twist to "Anytime You Need A Friend," the song that closed the shows. She sang the song with a choir, and right after the bridge, the song went straight into the C&C remix. As a special treat for her Japanese fans, Mariah returned to the stage after the encore to perform "All I Want For Christmas Is You," which was wildly successful in Japan. The fans didn't care if it was the middle of March or not. The music video for "Forever" was taken from the live performance at the Tokyo Dome, and a few of the performances aired on FOX TV's "Daydream: New York to Tokyo" special which merged the Japan concert with performances from her 1995 Madison Square Garden show. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0006A9GTA.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1133902829_.jpg In June, Mariah took the Daydream Tour to Europe, performing a handful of shows throughout the continent. The setlists duplicated the Japan shows, with the omission of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the end. Mariah called for audience participation for "Always Be My Baby," asking the fans to sing along with the hook. After this, she changed costumes and returned to sing "One Sweet Day," with Boyz II Men's parts being provided by thr footage from Madison Square Garden played on overhead TV screens. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y287/KalenD/db_1.jpg The Setlist Daydream Tour Setlist: Intro (Daydream Interlude) Emotions Open Arms Forever I Don't Wanna Cry Fantasy Always Be My Baby One Sweet Day Underneath the Stars Without You Make It Happen Just Be Good to Me Dreamlover Vision of Love Hero Anytime You Need A Friend *All I Want For Christmas Is You FULL Live Audio Setlist: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PY3YSWR2 Edited July 10, 200619 yr by KDavies

July 10, 200619 yr Author The Butterfly World Tour Most of this Tour was cancelled due to other commitments, but shows did take place. http://www.geocities.com/visionsomariah/bflytouribthawaii.jpg Just as she had done for the Daydream Tour, Mariah began the Butterfly Tour with a series of successful shows at the Tokyo Dome in Japan The Butterfly Tour was the first tour where Mariah changed the setlist a little bit for most of the shows. In Japan, she performed an abbreviated show in which she did not perform "The Roof," "Breakdown," "Whenever You Call" or "Without You." In their place, she performed "Babydoll." A trademark of her Japanese shows is the performance of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" as the encore. Mariah's original Christmas song was hugely successful in Japan and she sings it at the end of every concert she does there. Also interesting to note is that "Hero" is performed as part of the show in Japan. "Hero" is part of the encore for every other show. Mariah's stage banter was at a minimum during her Japanese shows (due in part to the fact that most people there did not understand the English language.) She did, however, take a few opportunities to have fun with the crowd. She brought onstage two puppies whom she had been introduced to in Japan, named "Bing" and "Bong." She also tried to get the audience to teach her how to say "tea" in Japanese, and took a picture of them with a disposable camera. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00004S158.02._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1129629122_.jpg The Setlist was changed in many cities, so here is the Japanese Setlist and set of audios (Realplayer Needed!) July 10, 200619 yr Author Rainbow World Tour http://www.geocities.com/visionsomariah/rainbowtourlondon1.jpg A Fans review of the night: "The first song was Emotions. Mariah was wearing her favourite outfit: A cut off jeans with a tiny blue tank top and looked wonderful as always. Real pretty especially if you are not far from the stage...She hit the high notes wonderfully well and it was done live. Throughout the whole concert I never noticed a single time when lipsynching took place...Every song was interluded with a little video performance made by Bianca and some of them were actually very funny. Some parts were taken from the chit-chat of Bianca interview on MTV, but there were also very recent parts... The whole concert was very theatrical with lots of set changes. Not to mention Mariah needing a new outfit and quite often a new hair do for every song LOL! She must be crazy... Against All Odds. I already thought this was a wonderful song and it is really amazing to hear this one sung live, because it really suits the long melanchonic notes for which Mariah is so famous. I think one of the strongest performances was Without You, This song which is also very close to my heart was sung with such a brilliance and energy that it came close to the original performance...Vision of Love had a great ending where Mariah showed her deep voice. The ending was different from the normal ending on the album or on most other performances A personal break which she has done before was the tasting of the local beer...So the audience should decide which beer she should drink and they made hard on her...Two people from the audience who where ask to help her here and they could take a beer with them. The guy was the smartest, he took the bottle rom which Mariah had drunk LOL! Thank God I Found You was of course the next song to be played.Unlike a lot of recent live performances, Joe was not present. In this case Trey did Joe's part and he did a wonderful job of course. That guy can really sing...Very fluently the song changed from Thank God I Found You into Make It Last. I am actually quite surprised at which ease it could go from one to another. Always Be My Baby was sung earlier, but gave the emotion which I got as well during the first times I heard the song. The relaxed atmosphere of a love song beautifully executed. Soft and true to the heart. Sweetheart was performed with the audience. Mariah had the idea of filming the fans and selecting two from the audience to perform Sweetheart with her.,,The two selected (Funny thing: They did look a lot alike ) were then kissed by Mariah and had to do a couple lines with her. During the trey break Mariah prepared for Close My Eyes followed by Petals and I know that I am not a fair judge here, but this was for me the highlight of the evening. Those songs are so moving, beautiful and touching. Especially the beginning of Close My Eyes always touches me from the inside, because it feels through to live. It is hard to compare it of course, but somehow the performance of Peatls seemed for relaxed, at ease than during the Rosie show and therefore better even though I think that Mariah had a better voice that day. As a further surprise Petals was followed by Can't Take That Away. And even though I have heard that song a 'million' times before. it is most definitively an outstanding song ans will go high in the charts. Please make this the next single. And then it was nearing the end so it was time for Honey. The sailor uniform she had on was different from the one in the Honey video and actually a lot more beautiful. After Honey it was time for a little break with the announcement of Don King of the fight between Bianca and Mariah. An actual ring was set up and weighing at 125 pounds (there goes your privacy) Mariah had to beat Bianca, who didn't look to go this time. The fight itself was a bit of a downer. Bianca went down in the first strike and Mariah's glove didn't even touch her, so I think it was a set-up by the mafia. I know that I am going from subject to subject here but there is one break that is really really funny. You see a really ugly Mariah doing her exercises with high heels and then the camera zooms in on her voice, it is Ozzy Osbourne. The last song was Hero and as always it was sung by Mariah running throught the audience poking a microphone in people's faces. After Hero a lot of small pieces of silver paper were dropped from the ceiling onto the arena which was a real pretty ending." Edited July 10, 200619 yr by KDavies
