Good to see Arsenal getting rid of their flops.

Appears Hodgson is having a huge clearout of Liverpool. Kind of good, as with the new rules that are being inforced this season for the Premier League we're really going to struggle at the moment. I guess that's why we've ultimately signed Cole and Wilson as they fit the British quota. I've heard Fergie doesn't want to buy anymore players (i'd but this down rather to the Glazers NOT giving him any money). I don't think Man Utd can win the title with the squad they've got at the moment. I know they came close last year but they need another centre forward imo.

I guess bookmakers are just scared of Forest (same with Boro). It's like Crawley in the BSP. They're money bags all of a sudden and are 2nd favourites, yet every club that's attempted to buy their way out of the Conference has always failed, and in some cases, very miserably e.g Grays

Boro should go up really. The underperformed last season and players like Nicky Bailey, Kris Boyd and Kevin Thomson should do very well at that level.

Titus Bramble to Sunderland too. Pointless signing. I like him but they already have Turner, Kilgallon, Da Silva and Ferdinand who are good enough.

It's a signing that hasn't gone down too well with our fans, and tbh i'm disappointed by it as well though unlike a large percentage of our support i'm willing to give him a chance, based on how well he played under Bruce at Wigan.

As for the players you named; Turner and Da Silva will surely be the first choice CB pairing next season, Bruce has told Ferdinand he can leave and Kilgallon is average at best. We're still desperate for a left back, it actually is beyond a joke. McCartney is bereft of confidence and form and needs to leave and Richardson just isn't a left back. We were hardly the most defensively solid team in the league, and that was with Mensah and Hutton in our back line, so unless Bruce strengthens (With some actual quality, not with more bargain buys) it's worrying.

Seems a bit slow on the transfer front, in the top flight anyway. Even Man City have spent less than I thought they would. Guess there's still time, but I guess not many teams have money to throw away anymore :o

I don't think a lot of teams have any money, apart from Man City (and now Chelsea) no-one has really broke the bank in the transfer market yet... I think the key is the Balotelli transfer (if its even going ahead??). For all the money Manchester City have, I don't think they want to commit paying probably £60m for Balotelli and Milner (when their combined transfer fee should be half of that really!!), so they're waiting for the Balotelli transfer to go through. Then I guess the likes of SWP, Ireland and Bellamy can then be moved on to other Premier League teams...

Yeah teams don't seem to have the money anymore, even the 3 promoted sides haven't spent much between them (and right now I think the 3 promoted sides look the weakest), but I guess if the money isn't there, it can't really be spent. Will be interesting to see what happens with Burnley this season I reckon, they didn't overspend to stay up last season, so i'm interested to see if they can get back up this season.

In other news, Al Fayed seems very bitter about Roy Hodgson, claiming Hodgson isn't a good manager and saying Fulham will easily beat Liverpool next season

Well I can imagine him being bitter. Hodgson did very well for Fulham, not sure whether Hughes will be able to replicate that but we'll see!

I'd be very surprised if Fulham beat Liverpool season. There's not a chance we'll be as poor as we were last season. There's still areas in the squad that needs to be improved upon, but no team has really made great improvements to the squad. We definitely need another striker, a centre midfielder (if Masch goes) and perhaps an attacking right sided player (although I have no idea where Cole will play). But apart from that I can definitely see us challenging for the Champions League spots again. All eyes are going to be on Man City.

Riveros is finally set to arrive in Sunderland within the next 48 hours in the most frustratingly drawn-out transfer since the Bent saga last season.

John Mensah's said to be returning here for another season-long loan, and rumour has it we're going to try and get Joe Hart in on loan from City (Could happen after we loaned them Fulop last season).

We still need a left-back though.

Hart on loan is a good move. Don't Sunderland still have Gordon? Is he still 1st choice. Think Hart will want to be 1st choice now that James has probably given up the England jersey.

Paul Koncheskey? Luke Young? Both are available. Liverpool were strongly linked with both, but Aurellio has re-signed and Insua is staying so I hope that's the end to the left back search. Young would be a very good signing imo for Sunderland, only problem would be his wage demands.

Gordon's going to miss the first couple of months of the season, as I recall. He broken his arm (again) during pre-season and he's having a plate fitted. Fulop's going/gone to Ipswich which leaves us with Mignolet and Carson, both are vastly inexperienced and with the run of games we have early on it's probably not the best idea to throw them straight into the team. If we do get Hart on loan it'll probably only be for a few months.

I wouldn't mind either of them tbh, anybody is better at left back than McCartney and sodding Richardson.

Edit: Latest crack is that John Mensah's signed permamently for us. Delighted if it's true, despite his injury problems he was by far the best defender at the club last season.

Welbeck and possibly Cleverley rumoured to be coming in on loans.

Frustratingly, Bruce has confirmed he isn't looking for a left back. Right wingers are going to have a fucking field day against us this season.

Peterborough have signed Lee Tomlin from Rushden, exciting signing! Saw him play a few times last season because I have a mate who supports Rushden, so I went along with him. If he can improve on his fitness a bit, he will have all the tools to go far in football. Really looking forward to this season :w00t:

Liverpool back after Crouch...

Is this guy trying to set some sort of record with re-joining old clubs? ha.

The rumours doing the rounds atm are that Jones is going to be allowed to leave and we're bringing in Crouch. Not impossible, if the murmurs of a split with Abbey Clancey are true.

Yeah Crouch is definitely leaving Spurs. Spurs ITKs have been saying if he wants to save his marriage then he's got to leave London and move back up north. Think she wants to go to Merseyside (so Liverpool/Everton) but guess he could end up just about anywhere. I know for definite Liverpool have made enquiries, but £14m? LOL. Levy can shove that where the sun don't shine! They want Babel aswell. Would rather he went to Sunderland tbh...but i'd gladly have him back.
