May 25, 201015 yr FYR Macedonia is probably the most likely withdrawal from that semi-final. My judgements on the chances of a withdrawal: FYR Macedonia [Most likely] Poland Estonia/Slovakia/Latvia Malta Finland [Least likely]
May 25, 201015 yr Why would they withdraw  Who? FYR Macedonia have had three years in a row at least, not qualifying (can't remember before 2008 :P), and they've considered withdrawal in the past couple of years due to money. Poland haven't had the best results recently. Slovakia & Latvia have both had two years not getting through now, and Estonia have only got through once since semi-final's were introduced.

May 25, 201015 yr Malta have no intentions of withdrawing I didn't think they had, but I thought Finland would have even less chance as they've been in the final more in recent years.
May 25, 201015 yr LOL read what I wrote in the other thread considering the posible Macedonian withdrawal! it's NOT happening!
May 25, 201015 yr Speculating over withdrawals based upon recent runs is baseless. When you base it upon recent runs combined with a low public interest in Eurovision and a lack of funds on the TV station's behalf, then you're going somewhere: hence Czech Republic, Montenegro et al. I'm sure we'll see all three Baltic states take a year or two out. Ditto Slovakia.
May 25, 201015 yr Not a hope will Malta withdraw as Eurovision is so so huge there, i really hope Malta can get a win in the next few years as Malta is genuinly a country who love eurovision and crave to win it.
May 25, 201015 yr Slovakia are the only mildly likely ones imo...can't see any of the others doing. Don't see any of the ones who dropped out this year returning for 2011 either.

The Baltic countries have been hit ridiculously hard by the recession (Latvia and Estonia have each lost about 20% of their GDP or something ridiculous), and they're pegged to the euro so if that goes under I don't see them coming back next year...

Oh I read your previous post as Balkan for some reason. That wouldn't surprise me then, especially seeing as Lithuania nearly withdrew this year, and Latvia did last year!
May 26, 201015 yr LOL read what I wrote in the other thread considering the posible Macedonian withdrawal! it's NOT happening! Thank god for that. I usually enjoy the Macedonian entries.
May 27, 201015 yr Author Out of tonight's failures, I think Switzerland have the best chance of not making 2011 wouldn't be surprised if Lithuania pull out as well having nearly done so this year. I think Sweden have the least chance of missing next year considering how popular the Melodifestivan is. Edited May 27, 201015 yr by zenon
May 27, 201015 yr Lithuania are pretty definite to pull out. Switzerland will keep on stalwartly trying, as they always have done.
May 27, 201015 yr I think Sweden have the least chance of missing next year considering how popular the Melodifestivan is. They'd never stop doing Melodifestivalen, but they might try to separate it from Eurovision and just let the winner get some other reward, and select their ESC entry internally or something. I'm sure that was discussed last year somewhere. God knows what they're going to do if they keep the same format...they had two incredible entries staring them in the face which really would have stood out in Semi 2 and picked neither of them. I was a bit cautious when people had started tipping Anna as the overall winner the last week or two, her voice is too divisive, which could be the same nail in the coffin for Lena on Saturday I suppose...:drama:

May 27, 201015 yr Croatia & Sweden certainly won't pull out in 2011, I don't imagine. All other non-qualifiers tonight are not certain for 2011, I don't think. Depends on if they can afford it, and the interest in the country.
May 27, 201015 yr Melodifestivalen is twice as popular as Eurovision itself in Sweden. It's almost like a seperate entity. Think of it like Britain's Got Talent - yes they all want to be on the Royal Variety Show to peform in front of the queen, but that bonus is almost long forgotten about in the long run after they've reaped the rewards of commercial success in the six months beforehand. With huge #1 albums under their belt, I'm sure Eric Saade, Timoteij and Salem pretty quickly got over the fact that they didn't get to go to ESC - the commercial rewards and gains in popularity/fanbase were more than satisfying enough.
May 30, 201015 yr I know it's not a withdrawal, but according to ESCToday, Andorra have no plans for a 2011 return :(
