I don't think they're a member of the EBU or the UN yet. I don't see Kosovo debuting next year, but possibly Liechtenstein if they can get EBU membership.

Whoops, short memory :lol: Circumstances are pretty different in Montenegro though, aren't they? Eurovision is insanely popular in all the other Balkan nations, but Montenegro never really had enough success for it to entrench itself in the public conscious there, did it?

RTCG was broadcasting ALL 3 nights this year... they were just disapointed about not making the final 3 years in a row... plus I think they realised they can't came up with something good enough to stand a chance to qualify.

but ESC is extrimly popular in Montenegro as in any other ex-yu country!

Montenegro even has 2 summer festivals similar to ESC that are filled with balkan/mediterenian counteis and has the ESC system vote. they are very popular too...

I can see them coming back next year actualy!

and I hope they willl...they have few young contemporary artists that deserve a chance to try for ESC... just hope RTCG reconise them and don't give their entry to be written by some oldies again :rolleyes:

I think it was something along the lines of staying if they come top 5, and if they don't come top 5, they'll consider the different options. 8th is still really good though, and viewing figures seem to be high in Greece, so I can't think withdrawing would be a last resort for them

 

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Greece were forced to withdraw, and Wikipedia is saying they might have to but mehhh...at least we'll be able to give a different country a high score!

Tbh, I can't say I've disliked a single Greek entry since that Sagapo bollocks in 2002. Mando in 2003 came criminally low!

Yeah I loved that. One of my favourite ESC songs of all time for sure! Their 1998 song wasn't that bad either, particularly in comparison to some of the dross that year. It only got 12 points though - all from Cyprus.

Unfortunately the Kosovo EBU membership application it's still on pending, though they signed a contract and the agreement underlines the EBU’s commitment to public service broadcasting in the region.

 

I remember RTK transmits ESC since 2000.

iirc, Hungary are attempting to make a return next year, with a different broadcaster
