May 28, 201015 yr Author Croatian girl indeed did mess up with her introduction part BIG TIME but they caught up then and i even forgot they had that moment until you brought it up! :o Anna is not shaky, it's just her voice that sounds shaky
May 28, 201015 yr Croatian girl indeed did mess up with her introduction part BIG TIME but they caught up then and i even forgot they had that moment until you brought it up! :o Anna is not shaky, it's just her voice that sounds shaky  All it takes is for enough people to assume that she was shaky (and not just her voice) and it then it doesn't make a difference whether the shakiness is intentional or not, it becomes a negative. :(
May 28, 201015 yr Miro is angry. :kink: http://www.oikotimes.com/v2/index.php?file...les&id=8248 “The finalists are no surprise. Of course these countries will make to the final – Ukraine, Ireland, Turkey, Israel – Israel is a small state in terms of territory but it is really big otherwise. All of the countries which qualified for the final tonight have always made it to the final in the past contests. It is all a political vote,” Ireland has qualified from a semifinal ONCE, m'dear. Your song was good, but the gimmicks didn't help. :heehee: On a seperate note, I think Ireland's slot is bad, but it's not the end. If Niamh can hit that end note it'll help her a lot. I still think 7th - 10th. Again, I never thought she'd win, so anything would be great.
May 28, 201015 yr Author 1. OH PUH-LEASE Miro, you were defeated, move on. Bulgaria came Top 6 in 2007 i think he doesn't know :/ 2. WOAH how is 'Niamh' pronounced? 'Nee-ve' or something like that?
May 28, 201015 yr Yeah, it's pronounced like Neev. :) I found Armenia's opening shot a bit.... revealing. :P
May 28, 201015 yr I'd imagine as the juries it would be their duty to at least be familiar with all the songs beforehand.....so you're saying they just walked into the semis with no idea what the songs were going to be? I find that really hard to believe. I'm saying that your whole neutralization argument isn't really water tight, it's easy to assume that everyone won't take to a song just because the one before it was similar but how can you really know the viewers? Sweden and Croatia could have DNQed for any other reason....I've heard some people saying they thought Anna was shaky and that one of the Croatian girls messed up at the start. Some people may just be of the opinion that Sweden and Croatia didn't perform well (even if you think they did) and not voted for them as a result. Plus you're basing all this (I assume anyway) on past years, however we've already seen that juries being in the semis have already effected the semis quite dramatically. I'd guess that it was the juries that didn't take too well to Sweden and Croatia. (for whatever reason) I don't think the juries are quite as easy to predict, we might imagine they'd eat something like Sweden and Croatia up but that's not necessarily what happened... Croatia did mess up at the start. One of the girls missed her cue with the start of her verse - it was quite noticeable but the rest of the performance was stellar, and I don't think that one thing should have put people off, but who knows? Anna did indeed sound shaky, but that's just the way her voice is  :( edit: Just realised Pavel has said almost the exact same thing above  Anyone else find it odd that Cyprus can only qualify with British acts these days - Lisa Andreas, Jon Lilygreen :kink:

We wish! :P Political voting is just an easy excuse for when people didn't connect with your song, good ol "political voting". It's always there when you want to moan about not qualifying....good ol reliable political voting. Seriously these political moaning buffons make me want to slap them across the chops repeatedly. I just looked over the Irish song, the performance was alot better than I remembered. It's only really the end note seemed a bit funny. (like she was afraid to go the full distance and cut it short....I wonder if she has some throat problems? She did have throat problems when she performed on the late late show a while back :( ) Apart from that she did us proud :) People are saying that she was nervous but she doesn't seem like the person who'd get nervous (at least not unless something bad like a throat infection was up) Edited May 28, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf

May 28, 201015 yr People that completley deny political voting exists and refuse to believe it's even slightly there make ME want to slap them across the chops ^_^
May 28, 201015 yr Political voting exists in a small way imo - Greece and Cyprus' exchange of 12 points, Cyprus not voting for Turkey etc, but I don't think there is much more myself. Azerbaijan not voting for Armenia last year was arguably politically motivated, but we've no proof of that. Most of the Russian votes from the smaller USSR countries has nothing to do with politics though - purely because the people there are probably partly Russian! My mum wanted to vote for Ireland last night because she's half Irish - this is exactly the same principle as what the Baltic/Balkan countries do and no one considers that as "political" at all.
May 28, 201015 yr People that completley deny political voting exists and refuse to believe it's even slightly there make ME want to slap them across the chops ^_^ I never said it doesn't exist, but I don't think it's anywhere enough to influence anything (well bar Cyprus/Greece :kink:) so I don't think people are justified complaining about it.......if a song is loved it will rise above political voting like Norway did last year. Most of the political voting complainers seem to believe that only eastern europeon countries will win even in the face of Norway's victory and the United Kingdoms 5th place last year. It's just bizarre. Sometimes I see people talking about how the United Kingdom will never do well because of block voting.....hello!? You got 5th last year! As David said, I'd hardly call wanting to vote for a certain country because you have connections there Political.....I'd call it more like Cultural Voting I suppose... May 28, 201015 yr People that completley deny political voting exists and refuse to believe it's even slightly there make ME want to slap them across the chops ^_^ Of course neighbourly voting exists, if you want to call it political that's fine, but I didn't vote for Ireland last night because of their economic policies, but because I like the song. Coincidental that Niamh happens to be from the neighbouring country? Maybe, but it's the first time I've ever voted for Ireland. Bosnia will vote for Serbia because that style of music is much more popular in the east, but I really can't see that something like In A Moment Like This will appeal to the Bosnian voters...it's not exactly the sort of thing blowing up in their charts. I wouldn't deny that there aren't some (maybe many) people voting for their favourite country/ex-pats voting for their old country, but moreso I expect it's because the styles of music presented by their neighbouring country are more similar to their own tastes, particularly countries that used to be one - i.e. the members of ex-Yugoslavia.
May 28, 201015 yr That's the thing. Political voting DOES NOT exist. People vote for their neighbours and allies because they have a shared music culture, which they understand and enjoy. Neighbourly voting yes. But not political.
May 28, 201015 yr I definitely wouldn't vote for the Uk because we're neighbors......no offense to anyone but the Uk song isn't very good imo anyway and I won't be voting for it on Saturday just because we have a history. I'll probably end up voting for either Iceland, Albania, Germany, Moldova or Belgium on the night.... Edited May 28, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf

Indeed! Loads of people in Russia are Azeri/Armenian/Ukranian/Belarussian/Georgian and vice versa. Actually all of these countries speak russian just like their home language, don't translate it on television, etc. Russian forums about ESC are usually flooded with 'ARMENIA/AZERBAIJAN/UKRAINE FTW' posts so it even further proves that loyalty to your home nation is quite a big factor, especially in former USSR countries. Norway and Iceland managed to beat all of the former Soviet nations last time, so it is not impossible to achieve success. Just send a good song.
May 28, 201015 yr Azerbaijan on first. Yes, perfect, exactly what I wanted! She will be forgotten (not fully, I admit), and she is a long way from Lena. But I think it's bad having Armenia & Germany right next to each other. With Denmark on last, if they improve the performance, they could very well win now.
May 28, 201015 yr I'M GOING TO OSLO NOW, BYE BYE Y'ALL Bye Bye! Have Fun! :cheer: Edited May 28, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf
May 28, 201015 yr Author LOL BOASTER :kink: Good luck! I hope you will stalk as many contestants as you can and make them take a picture with you there! :o  DON'T DARE COMING BACK WITHOUT HAREL'S PICTURE. :smoke:
