I too would go to see this is if was nearer, :o :o :o If D can earn anything like that amount of money, I can't blame him for doing so. I still hope something more wonderful tempts him away though. If I can go see an opera I can certainly see a panto with D in, as I know it will be much more entertaining and fun, and I'll actually be able to understand what is going on, well most of the time anyway :D . I think I'll check out the dates just in case :)
May 29, 201015 yr yup, it is a sum that suprised us tbh, but on TV people have said that the pantos are lucritive work-so perhaps he was given an offer he couldnt refuse..after all it will be fun and close to home as megham says - shame its so far form us, any photos of Darius in tights will be appreciated.. May 29, 201015 yr Would love to see this. Will have to investigate if I can get there and back in a day. Sue
May 29, 201015 yr You're a lot nearer than I am so should be able to. Check quickly though as the tickets seem to be going very quickly.
May 30, 201015 yr In the book the prince only puts in an appearance at the end. Wonder if Darius will be more involved in the story, because it's a long way to go for only a few minutes on stage. Sue
May 30, 201015 yr A cartoon I saw had the prince in it for a lot of the story. I can't see them having someone like Darius to just appear at the end. Waste of talent there.
June 1, 201015 yr There's no denying that Darius will make a very handsome Prince but unless my memory of Snow White is very wrong, I can't see that he'd have more than an extended cameo role in it. I don't have any objections to Darius tackling a new genre of theatre for him but he does seem especially over qualified both in training and experience for this particular one .
June 1, 201015 yr Author well they say: Featuring never before seen sets and costumes and a brand new script, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is set to be another spectacular, laugh-a-minute panto. 'Band new script' - So perhaps they have him in it more....especially as they only have his name to advertise it.
June 3, 201015 yr http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/2010/Snow%20White/AdforSnowWhite.jpg King's Unveil Darius In Glasgow Panto Battle Date: 28 May 2010 West End actor and singer-songwriter Darius Campbell (formerly Danesh) will play Prince Charming in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at Glasgow's King's Theatre this Christmas. The show will run from Friday 03 December 2010 to Sunday 09 January 2011. Campbell is understood to have been cast due to his high media profile having been crowned the winner of ITV1’s Popstar to Operastar earlier this year. The production is competing with a rival pantomime in the city starring entertainer John Barrowman and comedy duo The Krankies. Campbell said: "2010 continues to be an exciting and busy year that has taken me from London to Paris and Capetown. It's great to end the year in the motherland in my home town of Glasgow." A King’s spokesperson said: “We are very excited about Darius joining us this Christmas for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is a huge coup for us as a venue and we are delighted to be able to offer the people of Glasgow the opportunity of seeing one of their best loved performers back home in a much loved theatre”. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is being mounted by First Family Entertainment – the pantomime arm of the venue's owner, Ambassador Theatre Group. The production will be competing with Aladdin, the 2010/2011 offering from producers Qdos at the city's Clyde Auditorium. This is believed to be the first time two large-scale commercial pantomimes have gone head to head in Scotland's largest city. Aladdin will play from 10 December 2010 to 9 January 2011.
June 4, 201015 yr Does anyone care? Seriously, I've not seen any other member of cast mentioned anywhere. DARIUS CAMPBELL COMES HOME TO STAR IN SCOTLAND’S MOST TRADITIONAL FAMILY PANTOMIME! Following on from last year’s hugely popular Aladdin, the King’s Theatre and First Family Entertainment are delighted to announce spectacular casting for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a totally brand new show for Glasgow and Scotland’s traditional family pantomime experience! Darius, a critically acclaimed West End actor and platinum-selling singer-songwriter, will be playing the role of Prince Charming in this his King’s Theatre debut. On returning to Glasgow and performing at the King’s, Darius said: "2010 continues to be an exciting and busy year that has taken me from London to Paris and Capetown- it's great to end the year in the motherland in my home town of Glasgow." Since being crowned the winner of ITV1’s Popstar to Operastar Darius has headlined in his debut Opera, as the youngest performer ever to play the bullfighting Escamillo in Carmen at the O2, in the biggest production of an Opera in the UK. He also became the first performer ever to appear on the Opera world stage who is not classically trained. A King’s spokesperson said: “We are very excited about Darius joining us this Christmas for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is a huge coup for us as a venue and we are delighted to be able to offer the people of Glasgow the opportunity of seeing one of their best loved performers back home in a much loved theatre”. Even with over 100 years of Christmas experiences under its belt Snow White has never been performed at the King’s Theatre so this year’s pantomime will be like no other King’s pantomime you have ever have seen before – in fact, you will never have seen it before! With a brand new script by Eric Potts, stunning new costumes, brand new sets and a stellar cast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has all the elements to make this the most wonderful and magical pantomime in Scotland. This year, the production is once again sponsored by Robinsons. The nation’s favourite family soft drink is supporting a national celebration of pantomime up and down the country and is delighted to be part of maintaining the traditional family experience at the King’s Theatre. It says 'stellar cast' but only Darius is mentioned anywhere. Edited June 4, 201015 yr by megham
