June 6, 201015 yr Why don't you do this site a favour and f*** OFF instead of talking complete and utter bolloxs. Umm... who made YOU the judge and jury of Buzzjack, Richard? I must have missed your inauguration ceremony? I think someone's getting a little too far up his own posterior, don't you? Then again, it is rather humorous seeing a grown man getting so hot under the collar about the Eurovision Song Contest. Using your logic, then the crappiest band of all time is The Beatles; and the crappiest act right now in the world is Lady GaGa. Oh and therefore Jobrieth must be better than David Bowie because he sold a lot less records. Oh, and if you had bothered to read other threads on this site or in this forum, you would know that I don't actually like the song that won as it sounds like a Katy Brand parody of Lily Allen & Kate Nash. But from the draw for the Final; the fact it sounded very different to any other song in the contest; and its popularity across Europe then it was fairly obvious it was going to do well (even though I personally expected it to finish 4th). But if you think (like Pete Waterman) that Germany won purely on the basis that the country was bailing out Europe then you are a complete and utter moron who should be reading the Daily Mail. How ridiculous- I didn't say ALL popular acts were rubbish - what a weak and feeble attempt by you, Richard. I was simply pointing out that your fallacy that, just because the German song is HUUGE all over Europe that that somehow makes it great - which, coming from an adult is, well, pretty dull and demeaning, isn't it? If you truly believe that, then you're more of a deluded little trainspotter than I thought - your chart lists, in the realm of things and in musical history, sorry... they mean absolutely nothing. Most of Britain's greatest, longest-serving and respected artists have never sold massive quantities of albums or singles and many have never had a number one. Some of them, however, HAVE shifted massive amounts. But, on the same hand, so have many of Britain's most absolutely awful acts - perhaps, by your logic, you're telling me that, because Westlife have sold gazillions of albums and singles that they, somehow, are the second coming? That they are, actually, on par with your beloved Beatles simply because millions of nans and toddlers buy their every whimper? Well? As for the song sounding different to anything else there.... there were quite a few entries that made jaws drop because they were unlike anything we've ever heard before... some for right, many for wrong, reasons. Germany's was the latter - although even to someone who's clinically deaf, it's pretty blatantly obvious the song's a Lily Allen pastiche, so yes, we have actually heard it before. Time and time again.... And one Lily Allen (Britain's Best Female Singer, no less, ahem) is more than enough for anyone, let's be fair. And for your final point - if you honestly think that politics doesn't come into Eurovision panel voting patterns - then, sorry, but it really is YOU who is the moron. Oh - and Katie Manure representing the UK? Well, we might as well carry on the tradition of last place, so I think that's a damn good idea.
June 6, 201015 yr Ratings for Finland 625,000 [19% MS] - about 12% of people living in Finland Edited June 6, 201015 yr by bigzarafan
June 6, 201015 yr hmm... how popular is lily allen in europe? or kate nash? the winning song might well be a pastiche of allen/nash soundalikee to us, but what about the rest of europe? it might be fresh to them. it was a resounding victory for germany, a song that was well known in europe, and i dont think it was all about politics. others have said that we came 5th last year, if politics were really playing that bigger part we would have come much lower.... or won depending! ;) we will never know. so politics might play a role, as does neighbouring countries having similar tastes in music (thus being more inclined to 'swap' votes), but 50% (isnt it?) of votes are phone votes and i think that they at least are pretty 'clean'. if we entered a decent song (like last year....aparrently) it will do well. but really, who tf cares? the golden age of eurovision is long since over... it was best in the 70's/early 80's.
June 6, 201015 yr ESC was the best when Dana won in 1970 - the Irish Lena lol... :naughty: (damn I can't find a suitable smiley here)...
June 6, 201015 yr Allen's almost as big a success in Europe as she is here, Rob, so all the countries would have been well aware of her.
June 6, 201015 yr Allen's almost as big a success in Europe as she is here, Rob, so all the countries would have been well aware of her. they must like her then! lol
June 6, 201015 yr Well quite surprisingly 'Not Fair' was a popular hit in Europe last year - one of the more popular tracks to appear in different countries airplay charts. Plus her track 'F* You' was a fairly big hit in Central Europe (not released in the UK).
