June 13, 201015 yr Author When I vote, I always forget the name of the ones who made their work. :D Of course there are exceptions, few artists like Russ, Notso or Lewis mark their own style on each cover they make. I agree with Steve, only few non-designers don't play the rules and I also noticed that few people only vote for their favorite artist. I guess the best way to stop it is to have only one theme to work about per week (as it was the case at the beginning of the competition many years ago). In this case, only people who want to vote for "the design" and nothing else will vote. :) That's a good idea :D What was the game like in the 'old days'? All covers PM'ed to Steve, so they're all anonymous? I thought that but the problem is people know other people's styles and could find out whose cover was whose by following the image location.
June 13, 201015 yr All covers PM'ed to Steve, so they're all anonymous? That won't work, right click on the pic ;) and members can still see who done what I could suggest the winning person to choose the cover for the week to be designed, but it will end up as a poor turn out, as some members might not what to do that particular artist. Say for instance someone chose Rihanna and I go I don't want to do her. :naughty:

June 13, 201015 yr What I used to do in the past I just chose a particular artist from the list, and everyone done the same cover We could have genre covers, 1 from each genre, one pop, one dance, one Indie, one R&B'hip hop, so members will design one of 4 covers, but it means dropping the album covers, unless you do the same with the covers, so it be a total of 8 covers.
June 13, 201015 yr That's a good idea :D What was the game like in the 'old days'? It was the best occasion for me to design something for the first time, using Picture It software every week until I've changed into Photoshop one year after. I finally designed templates for professional websites. That's what I call a great success thanx to Mikey and this wonderful covers challenge! Edited June 13, 201015 yr by djcharly
June 13, 201015 yr I like the game the way it is, where they choose an artist from the release week etc. etc. and I do feel the right covers win at the end of the day (minus mine, I don't want to be big headed), but more points should be awarded to covers which don't get it. I like the idea of putting reasoning with each one, and PMing but if that means that Steve has to save them all them re-upload then that might be a bit much for URL camouflage.
June 13, 201015 yr Author Perhaps we could have a poll each week for what covers people want to design the next week. The winning 4 will then be the 4 that designers could do and they chose 1. Or the weeks winner decided which 4/5 people can chose from?

June 13, 201015 yr Interesting. I presumed this was about my votes seeing how it was brought up almost directly after I voted - but I'm not "friends" with anyone on here and DJcharly clearly has the best design of the week. There was a lot of busy covers. I don't mean to make this about me but there is one person who I don't think has ever made a cover and has NEVER voted for me (not one point). I'm not saying I'm brilliant or deserve points but the chances of being the worst since February seems a little ridiculous. Edited June 13, 201015 yr by Notso_Hampson
June 13, 201015 yr Oh and I love the idea of people giving a reason for why they have chosen each of the covers. It would stop people who probably just rush in here, throw some numbers together and leave.
June 13, 201015 yr I don't mind doing that. :) maybe 'trial' PM'ing them? i can always help you out with the scorings if you get overloaded...
June 13, 201015 yr The points are calcualted on a spreadsheet, it only allows 10 covers for points. thats changeable surely?
June 13, 201015 yr The whole 'give a reason' thing wouldn't work. It'd just be 'I love it!' x3, 'I like it!' x5 and 'cos I need to vote for 2 more!' x2.

You would have top point out what you like and what you dislike about the cover and if you don't your votes won't be counted. Is the route i'd take, firm but fair.

June 13, 201015 yr I almost always know the creator behind the covers when voting by the style, but I never let this influence my votes. I go by covers alone as this is what the competition is all about. Sometimes I think people vote for creators who are consistent, rather than the covers made that week. ^_^
June 14, 201015 yr so, any updates? any responses? Mikey? :D are the rules going to be changed mid way through this comp?
