Labour seats plus Lib Dem seats > Conservative seats. Damascene conversion or not, the Lib Dems led an election campaign AGAINST these cuts, and the majority of Lib Dem MPs who don't follow Orange Book principles are probably very uneasy with the fact that these cuts are going ahead in their name.

Agree. I'm sure many Lib Dems are uncomfortable. It seems there are many Conservatives uncomfortable also, and I doubt Labour feel happy about having to sit out until the next election. This is politics, it's decision by compromise. Personally I think it's a good thing.

About re-elections this seems bad loser syndrome. Why do you not ask for an immediate by-elections on all Labour seats? After all the majority of voters there didn't get what they voted for. Those who voted in Lib Dem MP's will at least see some of there policies implemented if they don't see the policy desired on VAT.

What a ridiculous claim! Labour ARE giving the voters what they voted for - an opposition based on the policies they espoused during the campaign.

The Lib Dems have u-turned on one of the key tenets of their election campaign and therefore do not represent what they were voted for.

First 2 minutes only. PIIGS= Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain.

Greece done and Ireland done. Portugal, Italy and Spain still to go.
