Amerie has been hard at work on her 5th studio album since January of this year, the title has been confirmed to be 'Cymatica Vol. 1'. Cymatica is Greek for the word 'wave' and the study of visible sound and vibration. The title was inspired by the elements Amerie is working on to incorporate in the album from the new wave genre. Amerie has also revealed that the sound will in addition also include inspiration from 80's styled music as well as her newly-acquired guitar skills.

Amerie has so far worked with Dallas Austin for the album. Austin has produced mainstream hits for the likes of Anastasia, Gwen Stefani, Kelis, Monica, P!nk Sugababes and TLC. A song from the album entitled 'Who's Gonna Love You' has so far been leaked from the album. It was produced by The Inkredibles and it is not yet confirmed if the song is going to be released as a single but it is definitely worth a listen if you're as excited as I am about this new era and want to have a taste of what the album might sound like:

I remember back in 2007 being completly obsessed with Amerie - Take Control & Gotta Work were such tunes  I enjoyed her last album to some extent but was kinda dissapointed with it at the same time, nothing stood out for me even if both singles would eventually grow.

Im liking Who's Gonna Love You, but again, not overwhelmed by it.

"Who's Gonna Love You" has been receiving some extremely positive reviews. :cheer:

With 2009's In Love & War, Amerie seemed to be screaming at the top of her lungs for some Billboard attention, but unfortunately no one was hearing her. Hopefully that'll change with her newest effort Who's Gonna Love You which has the songstress vehemently proclaimi to her (ex) boyfriend over blaring Inkredibles synths that he'll never find anyone who will love him like she has. With some crisp vocals and enough attitude to scare Tyra Banks, Amerie sounds more than ready to step back into the spotlight.

Amerie is back on her A-game. The singer drops The Inkredibles-produced "Who's Gonna Love You," boasting her distinctive funk-pop sound and brash energy.

This is the first time in a jong while that an Amerie cut has possessed an instant likeability for me. A great mesh of Hip-Hop on the production tip, with soulful R&B on the vocals, vocal which themselves are laced with pop sensibilities (catchy pre-hook/"Eh eh eh eh"), this is a winner much in the vein of the material on her stunning "Because I Love It" LP. Here's hoping she serves up more of this goodness on the new record.
