This is the way to sell your record - just stick it out. No more of this stupid creative release date nonsense, no more streaming online for two weeks beforehand, no chucking out promo copies to crap publications that have very little influence any more. Just put it out.

Is it any good? I don't care frankly.

But to release it "a day earlier than planned"? Ridiculous. Same kind of circus going on imo. But of course they can do whatever they want as long as the music is good. Personally, I'm on the verge of couldn't care less.
that's a bit dull. I'm not really expecting to like the album,
Haven't heard it yet but shall listen with interest once I'm home tonight. I shall be expecting disappointment.

It was only announced earlier this week, it's not really a circus...they were in a position to get it out early so they said, yep, let's do it. One of my biggest bugbears with today's music industry is the way everything is so meticulously scheduled and advertised ad nauseum before the album finally limps out into the shops.

What's more, it really does prevent piracy through leaks. One of the biggest reasons for people to download illegally is to be able to get hold of the album before the release date - why exactly should promos go out so early beforehand? Why this obsession with first week sales? Just stick it out and let it grow.

I agree totally. But we have to remember that this works with Radiohead, not necessarily with all acts who are involved with radio etc.

Yet, I must add.

Fans of Radiohead might live their whole life on the internet. Fans of Michael Buble and Take That probably don't.

People are making a big fuss about this anyway, no matter if the album is released today, tomorrow or next month. Just because it's Radiohead.

Fairly unremarkable on first listen although I did enjoy some of the quieter ones towards the end. This one may take a few plays to sink in but it's definitely no classic so far.

Well my mate at work didn't think it was ridiculous!!! He rushed over to my desk elated saying "Radiohead are releasing their new album today, I will be on my laptop downloading it in half an hour" (this was at 16:45pm :P ).

It's safe to say he's a massive Radiohead fan. :D

So far, it's just an okay album. It's got the atmospherics of Kid A with the harsh drumming of In Rainbows. I guess my hope for another 'The Bends' will have to wait another album.

TBH I think you'll be waiting a looooong time for that.

I've been reading the title as King of Lambs for almost a week now :o
I'm already liking this more on the second listen through. It's very dense and definitely more difficult to penetrate than In Rainbows was, it's more Hail To The Thief in that respect - but a more focused and distinctly less sprawling effort than that was, I don't think I would have wanted an hour of this so it's sensible that they've limited it to 8 tracks.

I'm liking it a lot. Radiohead albums always take a while to click with me though so I wasn't expecting to thoroughly appreciate it straight away.

That being said, 'Codex' and 'Lotus Flower' are particularly wonderful.

Codex is nice but I'm starting to think I am not a Radiohead fan as I dont seem to like as much of their stuff as I used to. I mean, I thought Amnesiac and HTTT had great stuff on them - I didn't really get Kid A, apart from the fantastic closing song.

Refrained from posting till I'd given it a few listens and I'm really enjoying it.

'Lotus Flower' and 'Codex' the early highlights for me
