i said velvet underground as its the only album ive got . however will have to think for a bit about best debut album

This was in Uncut magazine (Tigerboy's obviously just bought it ;))

I voted for Joy Division cos its my fave out of them. The Velvet's are probably more influential though.

I think it was Roxy Music, i left it off as i thought people would say i doesnt fit in as much as the rest.

"Velvet Underground & Nico" without a shadow of a doubt (but I'd put Joy Division's a close second, but JD were clearly influenced themselves by VU...); in terms of its sheer impact and influence which has carried on almost forty years later when you still have countless bands who are clearly aping the style of the Velvets, then you have to say that the Velvets have it.....

Curious to note that Pink Floyd's "Piper At The Gates of Dawn" (which laid down the groundwork for Psychadelia) and Sex Pistols "Never Mind The Bollocks" (the very definition of a "Punk Rock" album) are not included in this list; I dont really rate The Clash's debut album that highly either to be honest, "London Calling" had far more impact than anything they did before or since....

The Clash for me as it's the only one I have  (and it's good :P ) I should FINALLY get the Stone Roses too... But The Sex Pistols should be on this list. <_<

on that list Joy Division. The actual best debut album is Psychocandy of course...

Lots about the Jesus and Mary Chain in this months issue

The Stone Roses. It's the only one I own out of those.

they are: Pink Floyd's "Piper At The Gates of Dawn" is number 14, Sex Pistols "Never Mind The Bollocks" is number 19. not gonna type out the whole 100

will look at uncut as a JAMC feature.

I'd agree with Arcade Fire being in the top 50 or so.. .it was a superb debut!

Surprisingly enough I thought they had Definitely Maybe way lower than it deserved - no. 30 or something? Granted everything since has been awful but that was the record that made them...and it's still great to this day.
