Graceland all aglow for US WC support

11:07 AEST Thu Jun 24 2010

Elvis Presley's Graceland in Memphis will glow a bright red, white and blue in support of the US football team competing at the World Cup.

The home will be illuminated in the lights beginning on Thursday night.

Memphis area youth who play in the Mid South Futbol Club will flip a ceremonial switch in front of the home to light up the premises.

Graceland officials made the announcement on Wednesday night. Presley lived at Graceland from 1957 until his death in 1977. It's now a tourist attraction.

If USA hadn't scored in the last minute of injury time, England wouldn't be playing Germany on sunday.,

Thats Great!!!

Cross our fingers for England!

That's great news! Thanks for letting us know, Brian  I've just checked the official site and this is what they say:

Tonight, Thursday, June 24, Graceland will show its support of the U.S. National Soccer Team when the mansion will be illuminated in red, white and blue. The patriotic colors will stay lit through the July 4th holiday in honor of the United States National Soccer Team and their success in World Cup competition. The United States National Soccer Team plays Ghana on Saturday in Rustenburg, South Africa, for a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Memphis area youth, ranging from ages 8 to 12 years old, that play in the Mid South Futbol Club will flip the ceremonial switch in front of Elvis Presley’s Memphis mansion tonight, Thursday, June 24 at 8:15PM CT.

If you can't be in Memphis, you can still experience Graceland in red, white and blue each evening via the Graceland LiveCam.

I can't wait to see Graceland lit up in red, white and blue, but it's a bit early yet. Here's the link for the Graceland Livecam :cheer:
