What difference does it make if it was posted by someone who downloads illegally (which is like 99.5% of the population who has internet)?

Because someone who downloads illegally is hardly going to post something stating that what they're doing is wrong!

I dont see it af theft. In actual fact all it is really is Filesharing. Websites like limewire etc

just to add my two cents, i completely agree with chris that it's not theft, especially after reading that definition of it.

plus if it wasn't for things like limewire then there's absolutely no way that i would have bought half of the albums that i have now. how am i supposed to know if an album is good enough without having a listen to it first? if i listen to it and like it then i'd probably buy it in a shop but if i don't like it then i'll just not listen to it again. obviously singers/bands have singles to promote the album as a taster but they could have 1 amazing song then 9 rubbish ones and i'd hate to have bought it before realising that it's rubbish than just listening to it online before making my judgement.

From thisismoney.co.uk

Copying your latest CD purchase on to your iPod has become a routine part of modern life for music lovers.

But millions of consumers are unaware they are breaking the law every time they transfer an album or a DVD to their MP3 player or home computer – despite having purchased both legitimately.

Now, the threat of prosecution could be lifted after a customer body called for copyright laws to be updated for the technological age.

Just 15% of people are aware that it is illegal to copy music they have purchased to an iPod for their own use, while 38% admit to doing so, according to research conducted by watchdog Consumer Focus. Almost three-quarters - 73% - of people are not aware of what entertainment they are legally allowed to copy. Fewer than one in five (17%) know it is against the law to copy a CD or DVD they have bought on to a computer for their own use.

Under existing laws, which date from the days of vinyl, millions of consumers are technically breaking the law everyday. In reality, the music, film and television industries have not prosecuted those involved.

However, with more people carrying MP3 players, smart phones and media players, such as Apple's iTouch, they may do so in future.Consumer Focus says the law should now be changed to remove the threat of prosecution.

im not saying it isnt the law, im saying its not theft, infact it isnt even theft in terms of the law. its illegal more because its copyright improvement, that article doesnt even say it's stealing. My point is more that it is illegal, but the fact it is illegal is proposterous, especially seeing how much it benefits the music industry.

Wow. So i am bassically not allowed to carry my mp3 player? How fun. I never thought of it before tbf.

The whole set of foundation rules and laws of the music industry is hilarious, in a bad way. You can't f***ing force people to not copy the CD on their computer/player, etc. no matter how much you threaten by this 'law' which obviously was created for certain people to be able to stuff as much money as they can in their pockets.

I'm more leaning towards the view about NOT buying albums at all now :/

Chris. quite frankly you disgust me. Who do you think you ARE? How do you live with yourself?

(p.s. ileaks posted $h!tty music anyway)

Just keep on stealing them....

Just keep on stealing them....

Whatever :/

I don't know how it is there in the UK but here you are ALLOWED to download anything you want in one condition that you will delete it within 24 hours.

Is it stealing now?

Whatever :/

I was joking! (note the  ) What you say is sensible if you're deleting it so quickly and in all probability buying it if you like the album. The article I posted states the legal positon here - while it is technically illegal to even rip an album to your PC for your own use only the record companies aren't going to be too worried about that - its the people sharing on a wide scale on sites such as limewire that they have the problem with.

major record labels and copyright infringement laws see that if you copy one of your CD's for a friend, then you a breaking the law, its a f***ing joke, and its that mentality which pushes me to not buy major label releases and to "steal" them instead.

I live a life of crime, I live with myself due to my emotional detatchment that allows me to be such a soulless human that makes me "steal" music.

(p.s I believe my point in the first place was that iLeaks posts only massive releases from people who wont even notice a dip in sales).

(p.p.s aziz ansari  )

skyblue. Follow them on Twitter, they post it on there when they change it.

read my words. downloading is not stealing. Lets go by the example you used, Corn Flakes, say there is someone who loves Corn Flakes, someone comes out of a shop with some freshly brought Corn Flakes, and then gave them away, that is similar to music downloading, a.k.a SHARING (not theft).

music is made to be heard, not to make money. if musicians are making music to make money then those musicans are making music for the wrong reason, those musicans dont deserve miney in return of their music.

I just got the vision of someone buying a song off iTunes and chopping it up into pieces using the track length thingy and then passing around small portions of songs to someone standoing outside there house.

I'm sad...i know. :P
