I was wondering that in the US, 2006-present, downloads how many of them count for normal copies ,2005-past. like for instance Britney Spears' Womanizer sold 3m if it were released before the download era what will the sales be.

It would be 3 million? A download is equal to one unit, which is equivalent to buying one single.

 

Before 2005 sales did not affect the charts as much as they do now.

Airplay points still don't affect the sales of a single.
And it's that before downloads you could really only buy the physical copy of the single and we all know physicals died years ago in the U.S.

No it wouldn't. It's so much easier to get a download now, I don't think all 3 million would bother to go get the physical.

There are 3 component to the CHARTS, and one of those components IS sales.
No. It only affects chart placing on the Billboard Hot 100.
