June 12, 200718 yr Just added my brick I nearly forgot about this with all the excitement of Guys And Dolls

July 4, 200718 yr Aw I've always liked David Essex..........like Darius, a talented all round entertainer.
July 4, 200718 yr So have I - but in 'Footloose he looked likehe didn't want to be there. I think it would have been better without him.
July 4, 200718 yr Was that the show he went into instead of joining the cast of Eastenders? There was also a WOS rumour that he was taking over from Darius in Chicago but I don't remember if it was the Apollo or Cambridge. Edited July 4, 200718 yr by Baytree
July 4, 200718 yr I don't know - but he was ing to do a tour when it finished. He'd turned into a little grey man who didn't want to know. Very disappointing but the dancers were great.
July 4, 200718 yr I loved David Essex....but I was disappointed when I met him after Footloose. I did thin he had played the part well.....but was a bit shocked with some notes. As Meg said he just wasn't interested. We've been spoilt with Darius.
July 5, 200718 yr What is Footloose about? I got the impression it was one of those musicals which are "light on plot", heavy on dance and songs that are just songs i.e. aren't integral to the plot or understanding of character. I always get fidgety if there aren't good characters or a plot I can follow. Maybe that's because literature played so much part in my studies. Also the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow which did the best of traditional and contemporary plays was dirt cheap for students, as was the Glasgow Film Theatre which showed all the classic foreign language films. July 5, 200718 yr It is more an excuse for dance or song than anything. One of the musicals that impressed me least - except the dancing was great. I wouldn't want to sit through it again.
