A new version of Israel will be performed, but I assume they didn't get it in in time to be included on the compilation.

The new version of Russia is rather pointless, but it'll still do quite well for them. Norway's revamp is far better than it was before, but the live performance will definitely be the best version. Estonia seems to have been slightly polished up too from what I can tell and they are looking more and more like winners to me.

Taken By A Stranger sounds weird without that third verse, but at least they kept the ad-lib section and Hungary now sounds even more fantastic in HQ.

I'm seriously doubting whether RedOne had much to do with Get You aside from maybe backing vox and maybe chorus work. The production has NONE of his hallmarks at all, apart from a vaguely big chorus with 'oh!' sounds in it and the fade-in on the middle eight. The verses certainly don't sound like anything else he's done at all - weedy's definitely the right word.

That said, it's a grower, and it's doubtless going top five.

You just can't face that your beloved RedOne has delivered a big fat DUD

Of course it's not ALL Red One because it's co-written with a number of other writers, just like Dance Alone, Poison and On The Floor but like it or not is as much of a Red One track as they are. In fact the fact that we've seen him working on it in the studio is probably more reason to believe that he's worked closely on it and not just ticked a box on a form. He's not a session vocalist...he's hardly likely to come in just to sing a few "Oh Oh"s.

Come on it's surely not THAT much of a shock that world famous producer and Lady Gaga collaborator RedOne is not going to put forward an international smash hit for the Eurovision Song Contest

And I've said there are some parts on there that fit into his hallmarks! I'm saying he's got nothing to do with it, but the verses are so un-RedOne that it's very OBVIOUS he's flogged at least parts of it off to other writers. RedOne has come out with tracks that aren't good before and very obviously weren't international smash hits but you could at least tell they had his sound all over them - this? It sounds like he's done the backing vox, the chorus and the middle eight and left someone with a copy of An Idiot's Guide to RedOne to finish off the rest.

He's Swedish! He's hardly likely to treat the contest with utter disdain as most world famous British producers would...there is a FAIR AMOUNT of money to be made out of Eurovision success you know.

Well that's fair enough, except I'm not saying that just because he's not giving his BEST works to Eurovision that means he's treating it with disdain! It's just that the money and exposure of a Eurovision song, with few exceptions, isn't really comparable to that of a song for a huge star - even an album track.

And just because he's Swedish doesn't mean he's a megafan!! Robyn and September have gone on record to say that they have no time for Eurovision or Melodifestivalen, and it's clear that Agnes did not want to be there in 2009.

When did Robyn go on record saying she had no time for it? Didn't she write a track for Melodifestivalen in 1997?

I'm pretty sure that the exposure and money of a song likely to come top five in Eurovision is far more than the album track of someone like Alexandra Burke!

f***ing hell The Moniker came 4th on Idol 2007 with Christopher Hiding from Swingfly 6th.

Gathania also being 9th there :kink:

So great that Musiqq finally altered their song to include the COMPREHENSIBLE 'love me with luscious thighs (tights?!?)'.
Erm, it was always that right? I really like it, but mostly because I expect SHINee to cover it in the next 12 months.

Yes, but they are pronouncing this line now. I'd not have guessed that lyric without consulting the internet

Nearly everybody famous popstar in Sweden (many who become MF entrants) has come out of Idol, it seems to make far more popstars (with long term career prospects) than the UK equivalents. Agnes, The Moniker, Darin, Ola, Danny (and the other two from E.M.D.), Anna Bergendahl, Mans Zelmerlow etc...

Not to mention the likes of Tove Styrke, Amanda Jenssen and a ton of others that haven't even entered MF (yet!).

Dunno if a OGAE thread is really needed, and I always forget how good they are at predicting, but I always find it a bit of an interesting read. First ones in from Azerbaijan

OGAE vote for the most schlagertastic tracks possible don't they? Denmark won last year (Iceland were top three IIRC) and Sweden won in 2008...
Normally yes. It's the international Eurovision fan club - nuff said. URGH @ the 12pts :manson: 10pts is a VERY nice start for the UK though
Tom, I may have to limit your usage of mansons otherwise you're going to start looking incredibly repetitive if Eric starts hoovering up votes in the final :drama:
Ah, so generally not the best indicator then (though Denmark was quite close). Seems they're fulfilling that again, with Eric getting the first twelve.

Keep dreaming about your boytoy. I'm not convinced he'll qualify, and if the does, he'll come in the bottom 10. As for the mansons, I've only used one as yet and I shall be in a homosexualary in Birmingham on May 14 so you can cream yourself silly in here.

Does it count if he doesn't qualify at all? :kink:
