HI everyone what a great evening i thought the show was exceptional, so much nicer to hear Darius singing live and Devil in you was a real treat, i though Colourblind adapted really well to swing was very surprised. Hubby enjoyed the show and the Berlesq dancer i think it reminded him of all those great girls in Chicago. This show has something for everyone i do hope the rest of the tour is a great success, Darius was his usual kind self and made time to meet and greet people afterwards. Was so nice to catch up with you all I have some pcs they are on my FB wal at the moment will post on here when photo bucket up and running again.

I thought the show went really quickly, it was around 9.30pm I think on the clock when we came out, - there are so many songs I would have loved to hear Darius sing with the band live, I did notice on the CD it says vol 1...perhaps I am being too hopeful of more to follow, but there is realms they could do if they really wanted to follow the theme.

I suppose it was quite full on for the band to do more than a couple of hours.

Sounds like it was a good evening :) Was the place full? What was the reception like? If he's lined up all these dates for 2011 it must be selling well :)
Hi Paul I would rough a guess that the venue was 85% full. He was very well received the audience was a great mixtures of ages but majority were elderly i would say as this music was there era.

Thanks, everyone. I'm so glad everything went well and you all enjoyed the show.

How great must it have been for Darius to finally get his show on stage?

I admit I was a slightly concerned that there wouldn't be a good sized audience because the publicity seemed so very low key and swing is not everybody's cup of tea. For example, the tour announcement was made after the brochures for the Glasgow theatres came out and the press stuff (which didn't include Darius) for the panto in the local paper didn't mention the Big Band night. I've seen virtually nothing just a tweet or two from the Kings.

In addition, in the back of my mind for some time I've always been gravely concerned that Darius has proved so adept at different styles of singing that he had fans of all those genres waiting for a new album and tour, which they hoped would be in their favourite style and frustratingly he announces a Big Band tour, which isn't any genre he's known for, and I feared those fans of pop, musical theatre and PSTOS wouldn't understand why he isn't out there doing what they love him doing best instead and give up on him.

None of the 2011 dates are confirmed. We will be told as soon and if they are.

Darius was so relaxed singing 'Colourblind' that it was lovely to see. I think 'Crazy Love' will become a favourite of mine. The show was so well received it was great to see. Not all liked the burlesque bit, but it some did. Well worth seeing and, believe it or not, I'm going again.

photobucket still not finding my pics.

I know Darius can't be everywhere and he's trying to fit into programmes of events which have been in place for some time, in theatre sized venues and that must be difficult, but he really does need to find at least one venue in Northern Ireland.

I still haven't booked for the show because I don't know if I could take all the non-Darius stuff or if I would get on other patrons' nerves by fidgeting around during them. I really wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who was really into Big Band.

I'm really not keen on the tour's name. It still sounds more like some of the entertainment lectures they sometimes give at the Royal Concert Hall. If I didn't know anything about it, I'd be discouraged by the name if I was just reading a "what's on" feature to decide what to see.

They are aware of the places they'd like to go but it depends on ticket sales an availability of venues on the days the could do. I just wish they could do something primetime with Darius and the band. I'm leaving flyers around tomorrow, for out local shows (Woking and Wimbledon)
That's the problem- I have quite strong feelings on people removing their clothes for entertainment. If it's a bit of stripping, I could tolerate it, but if she flashes her knockers, then I won't be going! How far does she go? I need to know before I book!!
You don't see anything. I wish they had a couple of good dancers instead but some of the men loved it. I just thought her bits were boring.

No she doesn't do that. Just removes some clothing...and puts some back on later....it was tolerable

Just to say again the second leg 2011 dates are not confirmed yet.

We will let everyone know asap when they are.

Just seeing ig photobucket will find my pics yet

the dancer was good, its not crude in any way, just of that era, saucy, tongue in cheek and teasing, - plus sexy underwear. my hubby seemed to enjoy it - she reminded me fo the girl paintd on the spitfires during the war(from tv progs)
So glad you all enjoyed it, sounds brilliant! Can't wait for Buxton. Does he do the signings in the foyer of the theatre? Sue
He did last night Sue

Thanks Chris :)

Meg was photography allowed during the show? I see from your facebook page you snapped a few of him in action :kink:

They tell you when the show starts - we were allowed as long as there was no flash.
