October 1, 201014 yr Perhaps the new addition to the show IS another one of Darius's. Do you mean one of his, but not swing/big band, megham? I still don't know why Darius doesn't put some of the songs he's written and rejected on to his myspace.
October 1, 201014 yr He did say he wasn't allowed to. I'd like to hear a new one that I haven't heard before, in whatever style it was written. I can't imagine a non swing one in this context but whether I like the style or not is immaterial as it has to be what he wants to do.
October 1, 201014 yr There's still seems to be a lot of serious student in Darius. It appears to me that when he focuses on something,he gets really involved and wants to know absolutely everything about it. Maybe it was that Meisner training that did it. I think we have to accept that right now it's the history of big band music, his interest in it and his desire to fuse the spirit of it into his own music, that's enthusing Darius.
October 1, 201014 yr I still don't know why Darius doesn't put some of the songs he's written and rejected on to his myspace. He did say he wasn't allowed to. I asked him at Lincoln and got the same response as you Meg. He said he would like to give us access to some of the songs he's moved on from but that his record company wouldn't allow it :(
October 1, 201014 yr Doesn't sau which record company that is though. The old one owns most of the old stuff and we don't know anything about a new one yet.
October 1, 201014 yr What difference can it make unless the record company, unlike Darius, like the songs and either believe they are viable for him or are eyeing them up for other artists ?
October 1, 201014 yr Doesn't sau which record company that is though. The old one owns most of the old stuff and we don't know anything about a new one yet. Actually, now I think of it, he said it was his management company that wouldn't allow it, not his record company.
October 1, 201014 yr Then it's down to him. Record companies own the songs produced while the artist is signed to them - and he was paid as a song writer for 19. Management work fro the artist.
October 1, 201014 yr We're at the end of row J in the stalls, 15 and 16 I think. There's a small advert for the show in The Opera House online brochure which they emailed me this morning. I'm pleased about that because it was missing from the one I received through the post a week or so ago. Sue Sorry Gilly, have just checked the tickets and it's the end of row K, 24 and 25. I think row J was Buxton. Senior moment. Sue

That's it exactly Baytree. He becomes completely absorbed in each new thing that takes his interest. Sue
October 1, 201014 yr Did Darius sing 'Feeling Good' at St Albans ? That was the song I enjoyed most at Buxton.
October 3, 201014 yr Any improvement on ticket sales for Manchester Meg? Wish he would re schedule an interview on Manchester Radio. Heard husband saying what a good show it was to some of our friends this afternoon!! Sue
October 3, 201014 yr The new interview should be next week - I hope it is. Manchester is still not selling well at all.
October 4, 201014 yr I wonder if Friday night is putting people off? Some of the ones I've spoken to are keen on that type of music, but don't want to travel into town on a Friday night. Parking isn't as easy for The Opera house as it is for The Palace Theatre either. Apart from walking up and down the streets in a placard I don't know what else to do. October 4, 201014 yr Soooo wish that Darius had got the chance to promote them more on tv :( OMG less than 2 weeks now to we see him at Wimbledon now, all of us that are going there!! ...........Soooooo Exited, cant wait!! :yahoo: .....Looking forward to meeting everyone there too!
October 4, 201014 yr Darius mentions the Manchester date on his facebook page now and asks who's going? Someone also mentions that he's appearing on Clyde1 with George and Suzie tomorrow morning? Sue
October 4, 201014 yr Just had an email from The Opera House showing what's on for the month of October and Darius is advertised on there with a link to buy tickets. Have clicked on it Meg and hardly any seats have been sold at all!! :( Sue
October 4, 201014 yr I know - depressing isn't it? Just had an email from Woking showing the History of the Big Bands with Darius Campbell, so at least people will know it's on there. The poster may be put up now as well. I'll go and check in a couple of days.
October 5, 201014 yr The new interview should be next week - I hope it is. Manchester is still not selling well at all. Just heard he's supposed to be on The Becky Want Show this afternoon, 2-5 pm, 95.1 FM. Her introduction for him coming on the show later was 'Darius Campbell- God loves a trier and now he's tried everything!' Doesn't bode well for her interview.
