October 8, 201014 yr Who would ever have believed I'd sit and listen to a programme like this? And enjoy at least one of the singers singing at least one song. I hopr there's more as it'll be a long 2 hrs if not.
October 8, 201014 yr Only Darius could get me listening to something like this and for two hours. No wonder my daughter has disappeared into her bedroom.
October 8, 201014 yr I like this one by Darius as well - not really keen on Matt's son. I like the fun way he sang it at Mercedes Benz even more though. Nice to here it. Shame it's not on cd.
October 8, 201014 yr I think it was for most but I felt that, within their sphere, When I Fall in Love and the others were at least as good but Oh Lord Wont You Buy Me was much more the style I like.
October 11, 201014 yr On the Ambassador tickets site it now says that the show is 1hr. 15mins long!!! Surely the show is longer than that isn't it??!! Julie
October 11, 201014 yr When we went I thought it was 2 hrs including interval. I didn't time it though.
October 11, 201014 yr When we went I thought it was 2 hrs including interval. I didn't time it though. Thanks Meg.... hopefully they mean 2hrs.15mins then, as D said he was rehearsiing a couple more songs to add to the show didn't he? I hope 1 hour 15 minutes doesn't put people off because they don't think they would be getting value for money :( Julie

October 12, 201014 yr From STV Darius Campbell brings Big Band show to Scotland Scottish musician Darius Campbell has produced a new show called The History of the Big Bands. The show takes the audience back to a different era and features classic songs from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Count Basie Scottish singer Darius Campbell has come a long way since appearing in hit TV talent show Pop Idol in 2001. He turned down Simon Cowell’s offer of a record deal and instead signed with U2 producer Steve Lillywhite. His first single, Colourblind, topped the singles chart and his debut album went platinum. The talented musician has produced a show, The History of the Big Bands, which is currently touring the UK. The audience are transported back to a time when big band music filled the dance halls, lifted the troops and raised the spirits of the nation. He told The Hour: “The show was a year in the making. My Papa was in Paisley Hospital as he wasn’t feeling so well at the time, but he was telling me about his life and big band music and I had just had lunch with Michael Buble and we were talking about those particular songs. Darius Campbell brings Big Band show to Scotland “They were used by all the classic crooners. I wanted to do a show and I called it The History of the Big Band. It transports the audience back to a different era, to the 1920s to the big crooners to the swing of the 1930s all the way through to the great band leaders of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington and through to the 50s and 60s.” Darius has performed with many different kinds of orchestra and with hiss own band, and he was lucky enough to be able to meet and spend some time with music legend Tony Bennett. Darius said: “I literally felt like the luckiest kid in the world. Tony has this way of talking to you so you feel like you’re the only person in the room. It was so easy to have advice from a man who you then see going on stage to perform. He’s been in the business for 60 years and to get his blessing for this tour is unbelievable. I’m really excited to be bringing the show to Scotland.” Darius loves the unique sound of big band music, and his favourite sound in the world is when the best players in Europe get together to sing the old classics. He said: “So many great singers took big band music on to convey these beautiful songs. They sound as good today as they did in the 1940s and 50s.” Darius will be performing in The History of the Big Band at Glasgow King’s Theatre on October 19 and Eden Court Theatre in Inverness on October 20. Darius sings Fly Me to the Moon
October 12, 201014 yr Oh wasn't that a lovely interview, and like you said Meg, doesn't it make a difference when the people doing the interview like him and don't try to have a go. Wish they could get him onto Granda Reports the local Manchester news programme to help with ticket sales. Sue
October 13, 201014 yr I think that each show we see in this will be even better than the one previously seen. 2 new numbers for us as we haven't seen it since St. Alband. Feeling Fine was absolutely marvelous. 'It Had to Be You' we also hadn't had before. Fever was fantastic this time. A good show.. Just a few pics. The venue looked to be full. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/2010/Big%20Band/P1000771.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/2010/Big%20Band/P1000767.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/2010/Big%20Band/P1000763.jpg
