February 9, 201114 yr Dilba's song was underrated indeed but as been said her performance was awfully plain and plainly awful.
February 9, 201114 yr Gutted Le Kid didn't qualify :( I've not heard the ones that did qualify though, will do asap :D Great to see Eric Saade and Love Generation doing well, surely LG will do really well with RedOne behind them if they are sent to ESC?
February 9, 201114 yr We've had descriptions of the songs in Heat 2 in Goteborg: Brolle - Schlagerprofilerna say that the song is a real 'stadium rock' song in the same vein as Bon Jovi and Springsteen's 'Born To Run', it seems to lack a real sing-a-long chorus but it sounds like a qualifier. Tobbe Ek says it's rock but not too hard for it to become predictable. He says it's easily forgettable. Loreen - Schlagerprofilerna say it's 2011's equivalent of 'A Place To Stay', an evocative electro tune with a hint of 'Stereo Love'. Unlikely to qualify, unless the performance is amazing. Tobbe Ek seems to agree except he says it sounds like a dance remix of 'Unbreak My Heart'. Babsan - Ek says 'If you've got an image and a sound in your head on this one, you're likely to be right'. It's full of castanets and crickets with a very catchy chorus and a mandatory key-change. He says he could sing along after a minute and it's very reminiscent of 'Dolce Vita' but it might just fall at the first hurdle if people don't latch on to it straight away. Schlagerprofilerna agree but say there's no way Sweden should send this to Germany. Elizabeth - Good but not good enough according to Schlagerprofilerna. A big 'Helen Sjöholm'-style ballad that never really gets going. Ek says it's a sleek ballad that would be better suited to representing Norway. Sanna - A disappointment for Schlagerprofilerna. It's essentially 'Vågar Du Vågar Jag' with crisper production. It starts off sounding like 'What A Feeling' but then fails miserably at really ramping up. Pleasant but not a winner, they say. Ek agrees and says that is really is no different from 'VDVJ'. The Moniker - A 60's sounding up-tempo with a catchy chorus, says Ek. SP say this could easily qualify, it's very Mika and Rongedal and the fact that he was on Idol could really work in his favour. Anniela - The fact that she's unknown shouldn't matter as this is great according to SP. They've taken the best of MF's gone by and added a modern twist, very catchy too (a bit like Jenny but definitely more mordern!). Christian - A big Tony Nilsson mid-tempo that could be very dangerous as it's very Salem Al Fakir with a bit of Katy Perry's 'Firework' thrown in, this is the kind of thing being played on radio now and that'll work at his advantage.
February 9, 201114 yr Author Sounds like a much weaker semi than the first - why weren't Le Kid in this one :drama: Looking forward to Anniela and Christian the most then, and Sanna of course, no matter what they say :P
February 11, 201114 yr Rehearsal clips are out! http://svt.se/melodifestivalen Loreen, Sanna and Anniela all sound predictably amazing, and I like the sound of Christian's song but GOOD GOD that performance looks a mess. One for the studio version only please.
February 11, 201114 yr Once Loreen has been clubbed up a bit in the chorus, that'll be amazing on a Friday/Saturday night thank you. Anniela will presumably be translated to English if she wins...this also sounds amazing! Sanna Nielsen's song is a bit mehhh to me though, and destined for failure if it wins. :(
February 11, 201114 yr Sanna's track sounds like someone threw Tone Damli's I Love You in a blender with Abba-by-numbers with a tiny dash of Alcazar to camp it up slightly.
February 11, 201114 yr Author Brolle's song sounds absolutely dire, I was actually expecting something fairly alright from him but this isn't it :( Loreen's song sounds very good from the clip, very much looking forward to that one! Don't think much of Babsan but then I'm never a fan of drag acts competing at Eurovision/National Finals...the song sounds average too. Elisabeth's song sounds as if it could have potential in full, I do tend to like these epic sounding ballads. Hugely looking forward to Sanna's song of course, really liking the sound of the clip! The Moniker's song could have some potential - a little Mika-ish. Anniela's song sound great - definitely the sort of thing that would finish at the bottom of a Norwegian semi, I wonder if Sweden will take to it more? I can barely make out the Christian Walz song from that performance but the song could have potential...
February 11, 201114 yr Not a great semi going by the clips. Looking forward to hearing Loreen's song in full, it sounds very interesting. Sanna's song sounds good, and will probably go DTG along with The Moniker who reminded me of Rongedal (It isn't the same guy is it? ). My only criticism of Sanna's performance is the bizarre rotating podium. Anniela sounds alright, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it fail to qualify. Brolle sounded pretty awful, as did Babsan. Elisabeth's ballad sounds a little lacklustre at the moment, but might sound great in full and Christian Walz did nothing for me at all. My predictions: Final: Sanna & The Moniker Second Chance: Elizabeth & Loreen.
February 11, 201114 yr Saw 'with a bit of Katy Perry's 'Firework' thrown in' - and once again, I'm in.
February 12, 201114 yr Author Did the MP3's for this semi leak yet? Can't believe there's nobody in here - I'm of course watching :cheer: Sanna!!!! edit: found them!
February 12, 201114 yr Author The links are all up on the usual blog. Wasn't keen on the first song, it was a little bit Shakin' Stevens...
February 12, 201114 yr Nearly missed this as I got confused with the timezones :drama: . I'm not a huge fan of Brolle, but that may qualify, it was a faultess performance.
February 12, 201114 yr That was f***ing brilliant. And by usual place you mean that blog you linked me too the other day?
February 12, 201114 yr Author That was f***ing brilliant. And by usual place you mean that blog you linked me too the other day? Not the albums one, but the other blog ran by the same person - there's a link to it right at the top of the page on the albums blog. Really liked Loreen's song, not loving Babsan's song, I despise drag acts :drama:

Really liked Loreen's song, not loving Babsan's song, I despise drag acts :drama: Sweet, i'll check it out after I enjoyed Babsan, it can't get anywhere near ESC though. It'll just give the BBC ideas :drama:
February 12, 201114 yr Loved Loreen's song, hope it qualifies to AC at least, but the voters rarely support songs like that :( . Babsan was rather hilarious, but I'd be happy to see that not qualify.
February 12, 201114 yr Author Sweet, i'll check it out after I enjoyed Babsan, it can't get anywhere near ESC though. It'll just give the BBC ideas :drama: Surely if they wanted to send a drag act they'd have already been inspired by Verka Serduchka's 2nd place in 2007? :heehee: Elisabeth's song is very grand, I'm enjoying it a lot!
February 12, 201114 yr Author Nice to see Sanna's been getting a nice tan in the Swedish sub zero temperatures!
