It was decent but I found it a little OTT and 'in your face', I preferred Vertigo from the year before, the melody seemed to have more direction to it. I can't say I was devestated that either failed to progress to the final though.

Chiara's 2009 entry was always nice until they changed the production and it become something resembling a news bulletin. Not to mention the change in melody in the first verse where she suddenly went into a higher key - very offputting and not at all necessary.

If I was to rank their entries since 2000 it would go;

amazing.

2002

2004

2003 - I always had a soft spot for this that nobody else seemed to have, it topped my chart! Gutted it finished bottom 3!

Great

2005

Very Good

2007

2009

2008

Good

2001

2000

2010

Average

2011

2006 - throwaway song with a woeful vocal, definitely deserved last place

Mr Dandy* has just been watching the rehearsal performance... does one of them have to squeal all the way through the song? Does it sound that bad normally?!!!

Just watched the first rehearsal for blue.

I think the song is nice enough, but goodness one of them sounded like they were drowning at one point.

The second rehearsal was a big improvement, but it could still be better.

I wouldn't rule out the UK's chances of winning just yet.

I know this is only a small thing to go by, but last night when they played clips of The Big 5 countries who are already qualified, the UK and Germany were the only ones who got great cheers, enough to even hear over Scott Mills talking. France (the favourite), nothing. Thats surely a good sign, right?

How do you think the jury voters will react to this btw? I have no idea. What do they usually look for in a track?

I noticed that too - I'll put that down to Blue's popularity I guess, hopefully it will transfer into votes for the song! Although tATu were the world's biggest selling singles act of the year when they went into Eurovision in 2003, and all they got was blanket booing

I think the juries will like it enough to place it in their top five, as will the televoters - and we'll finish top five overall. Don't know how much higher than that we can go but I've still got everything crossed :D

From twitter:

We are happy to announce that "I Can" will be made available to buy across MANY new countries worldwide TOMORROW May 13th

I'm guessing it'll be made available at midnight ? It'll be interesting to see how well it does

No matter how they do, I can definitely see this being one of the biggest post contest hits around Europe. They already have a fanbase that'll buy the single in a lot of countries - plus it's the most contemporary/chart friendly song in the contest imo. I'm struggling to see what other songs have international hit potential this year - Sognu perhaps, I thought Haba Haba but it won't now it's crashed out in the semis.

I noticed this too! Will be listening out again tonight to see if it's repeated! I still think we can win it, and if it isn't us then it'll be France, which is still fine by me! Definitely hoping to go next year, so it's quite convenient that the three favourites are the United Kingdom, France and Ireland! Azerbaijan is a bit far though...

I Can released across Europe earlier today, and it's already making waves :o

Sweden - #37

Germany #269

Fairly insignificant I suppose but that's after 9 hours and on hype alone seeing as they haven't performed yet. France isn't anywhere on either chart...

Seeing our entry doing well on other countries could give us a good finish, I'm predicting at least a top 5 finish, I don't think we win it though. We are fairly placed on the running, let's hope having Moldova following us doesn't kick us a bit, hopefully there is an ad break after UK has performed.

Malta should give us some good points surely.

Out food shopping at Asda just now and I Can was played at the start of the hour  Hoorah for Asda FM!

Also, out clubbing again on Wednesday night I heard Gina G - I know everyone in the club has probably completely forgotten the Eurovision link to the song but they seem to play it every week in the amazing final hour (after the obligatory 3 hours of chart club bangers) and it always gets a huge reception!

I think Blue will either come 4th, 5th or 6th. I don't really have any reasoning behind that, but I just have a gut feeling.
Hopefully not that low, but as long as they're top five I won't be too distraught.
It's good until the chorus, then it sounds quite average. :( I'd usually blame it on amateur videos, but I've noticed the same problem on the official Eurovision rehearsal clips too. It just seems to me that they can't sing in harmony in the chorus, and so it sounds a bit all over the place. But if Jedward can pull off a great performance then I'm sure Blue can! :P
I don't think it's that bad of a performance. Certainly Lee does quite well. I'm also learning to deal with the godawful screens.

Jedward and "Great Performance" really should never go in the same sentence

I may or may not have made the anonymous second reply to that commentary :kink:

A good point well made.
