July 17, 201015 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 09.07 Having in mind the period of examination, which coincided with Germany being in football fever, it is no strange that there are no changes at the summit of the singles chart, with Shakira, K'Naan and Velile & Safru Duo all keeping their positions from last week. The highest new entry belongs to Checker, aka Thomas Karaoglan, a former participant of DSDS, who brings his debut single, the summer flavoured "Checker der Vollstrecker" at #18. And yes, it was Dieter Bohlen who came first with Thomas' nickname... Following the top-ten success of "Fight for this Love", Cheryl Cole now officially has more singles in the German chart than her group Girls Aloud. That becomes possible as her sophomore solo single "3 Words" enters at #27. A special mentioning to Robert Francis, whose "Junebug" slowly but steadily moves up the German chart and this week enters the top 30. Further down the countdown, at #49 enters "Imma Be", the fifth single taken from Black Eyed Peas' "The End" album. At the same time Amy MacDonald follows the top-ten "Don't Tell Me That It's Over" with the not so impressive entry of "Spark" at #58. At least she is far more popular in Germany than in her native country... A curious appearance at #64, with Ginuwine, whose "Pony" was one of the best R&B singles of the late 1990s. Now he is back with a single which has the "Timbaland" brand written all over it. The highest new entry in the Albums chart can be found as low as #15, where DJ duo Blank & Jones bring their latest CD "Relax Edition Five". Big jumps are registered by Velile, whose debut LP "Tales From Africa" soars to #6 from #28 and Michael Jackson, whose best-of-album rises 37 positions to #16. However, there are no changes at the top, where Eminem once again struggles to take the summit as the Unheilig's great "Große Freiheit" stands at #1 for yet another week.
