Uh, it was top five in the US at the time and, a month and a half after the contest is now number one in the UK? :lol:

 

I don't think "Airplanes" was cheap at the time I sent it. It wasn't even on the Radio 1 play-list, and I don't think it had gone to UK iTunes at the time either. And not everyone in the contest pays attention to the US charts, so I don't consider a song cheap just because it's doing well stateside.

 

I was just saying why it might be considered cheap, rather than that I particularly thought it cheap at the time :P (Uh, hello, I voted for it!)

My first contest Gavin Mikhail 'Fight The Sky'. I would not change my debut entry for the world :wub: My cheapest entry, now is perhaps Keri & Co however, it wasn't scheduled for a release here in the UK at the time of me choosing it as my entry, so wasn't so cheap at the time.

 

I entered my favourite song of the decade (noughties) to my first contest, so I definitely wouldn't have changed that - well maybe I wouldn't have sent the live version...

I sent Alcazar - nothing like starting how you mean to go on :kink: It's a shame that We Keep On Rockin' never got released here as planned, would have liked to see how well it did. On an unrelated note, I think that my winning entry in XIX was the only Numayanian song to get a mainstream, promoted, UK release (yet)...

 

I know, it sticks in the brain doesn't it? Weirdly the instrumental part where they've sampled the piano from the theme is stuck there most of the time for me...

I've weeded them down to 16 now. I like 16 tracks, and someone is going to just lose out on a point.

To butt in the conversation. I sent my favourite Artist ever to my first contest (Bjork) and wouldn't change that ^_^! I'm also pleased that NONE of my songs have gone Top 40 ever in the UK Charts! :D

Nah, not really, I didn't want my final entry (if this is indeed the last contest in this format) to be something totally un-Rontvian, rather something that summed up my time in the contest - plus I wanted a foreign entry as I'd never sent one before. Plus Young Blood has just won Unknown Pleasures by an absolute landslide hence very uninspired looking as a lot of people here would already know it now, and with that in mind it would be embarrassing to finish any lower than 1st with it so I didn't take the chance. I've never sent songs for victory, always in the hope that people will discover something that they like, a good result is a bonus. And no it's not a grower, if you don't get it first time you never will :heehee:
