Woop!!! Great to see you liking all of this weeks top 10. A rather static(ish) week for new releases. A couple of tracks from Unknown Pleasures have entered. Even Usher's 'OMG' has grown on me lots over the last couple of weeks - I was undecided whether to chart it as it's been around for ages. In the end I decided why not so it's new at #30.

Thanks for posting Soundseekerz :D

02 (02) Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie (02-02) [2 wks] At first i didnt think this could work, but he pulls it off brilliantly

When I heard 'LTWYL' for the first time, I was really impressed. It's just just Eminem or Rihanna that makes the song - the soaring chorus and the general production of this track is spot on, imo. Definitely one of Eminem's career highlights proving that he can still produce top quality pop/rap.

04 (05) Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. - Bang Bang Bang (05-04) [2 wks] Its so strange that it works lol

This is defining "sleeper" hit. On first listen I didn't really know what to think. With continuous plays I've found myself liking this song more and more. I'd still rank 'Stop Me' and 'Valerie' as better singles from Mark Ronson's debut album. This would currently rank as his third best single to date.

14 (14) Two Door Cinema Club - Come Back Home (14-14) [2 wks] lovely song although I prefer the track 'This is the life' lol

Oh, I've not heard 'This Is The Life'. This is Two Door Cinema Club's second top 20 hit in my chart in 2010. Their debut chart hit 'Something Good Can Work' peaked at #12 for me.

15 (--) Velile & Safri Duo - Helele (15) [1 wk] - Had to check this out, its awesome :D

This has been a big hit in central Europe - no. 1 in Switzerland whilst going top 3 in Germany. It reminds me of 'Shine On' by R.I.O. - the production on both tracks are really similar.

16 (16) M.I.A. - XXXO (16-16) [2 wks] - Excellent bassline :D

This is another of those "sleeper" hits that have continued to grow over time. Still much prefer 'Paper Planes' and 'Jimmy' though.

18 (--) The Naked And Famous - Young Blood (18) [1 wk] This is brilliant (reminds me of MGMT) - i hope it gets released here. Awesome bassline :D

Well due to a lack of decent new releases I decided to clear out some of the deadwood by entering a couple of tracks from the recent Unknown Pleasures that took place in the Indie forum. This track won UP but for me the track lacked a really strong chorus. I personally think, whilst it's a good track, 'Young Blood' had potential to be an even better track.

28 (21) B.o.B. feat. Bruno Mars - Nothin' On You (01-01-01-02-04-07-08-14-21-28) [10 wks] Awesome track. Have you listened to 'Just the way you are' by Bruno Mars. Its perfect

I've not actually. Then again I don't buy albums anymore - I tend to use Spotify and stream the tracks that way. Or check them out on YouTube hoping that the record company hasn't blocked them, or they've been uploaded in the wrong key to overcome the obstacle of being removed. -_-

30 (--) Usher feat. Will.I.Am. - OMG (30) [1 wk] Surprised to see this entry, will it climb or fall out? lol

I know it's been around since March? I just didn't like this song at first but over the last few weeks listening to this song (when flicking through the music channels) I've just started to like 'OMG' slightly. I was going to let this pass and not bother entering the track now but I decided as it's a quiet week I decided to enter the track. Can't see it climbing but who knows what I'll think in 7 days time. I think a peak of #30 is justified.

34 (27) Katie Melua - The Flood (02-02-04-06-11-13-14-21-27-34) [10 wks] Very soothing. Love her new sound :)

'The Flood' is such a turnaround for Katie Melua. First heard this a while back and I actually got goosebumps listening to it. I also think the twist in the song when it suddenly goes uptempo is brilliant. By far one of Katie's best singles.

01 (01) Yolanda Be Cool & DCup - We No Speak Americano (01-01-01) [3 wks] Glad it's stayed ahead of Eminem/Rihanna :D

Wasn't it inevitable? :D Mind you, I do think 'LTWYL' is excellent and easily Eminem's best single since 'Like Toy Soilders'. Don't think Eminem will be topping my chart but reckon it'll be hanging around for a while.

11 (11) Plan B - Prayin' (11-11) [2 wks] Not top ten yet? I actually prefer this to She Said, which I've noticed is doing incredibly well in parts of Europe now :o

Personally. I much prefer 'She Said' which I thought was excellent from the first time I heard it. I like 'Prayin' but it's had nowhere near the same impact as 'She Said' has had on me. The video for 'She Said' was a real selling point - the whole concept is brilliant.

18 (--) The Naked And Famous - Young Blood (18) [1 wk] Nice to see this enter, been #2 in my chart recently, great song

All thanks to Unknown Pleasures which is where Pallers and Slagsmålsklubben have stemmed from. The three songs I've listened to the most since UP finished.

30 (--) Usher feat. Will.I.Am. - OMG (30) [1 wk] Late entry  I still find this the epitomy of bland, how it's (on course to be) the biggest seller of the year is beyond me

About two months ago I would've agree with this but it's become one of those tracks that I've been unable to avoid - music channels, the occasional radio airplay when I'm at work has all equalled to me liking this song. I still don't think 'OMG' deserves to be the UK's biggest selling single of 2010 but that's the British music buying public for you.

40 (--) Diana Vickers - The Boy Who Murdered Love (40) [1 wk] Ouch, where did Once peak for you?

'Once' peaked at no. 4 but tailed off quite quickly. 'TBWML' just hasn't impacted me at all - it's far too similar to 'Once' but, imo, isn't anywhere near as good. Good enough to scrape into my chart, yes. That's about as good as it gets. It's performed better than Scouting For Girls 'Famous' which has failed to chart.

Thanks Richard :D

Agreed there r.e. Eminem, although I didn't mind Mockingbird either. Yes I agree that Once is better, there are some really decent songs on her album too actually. Famous is horrendous, just when I thought they were turning a corner with This Ain't A Love Song, now they release a song even worse than the horrors they've put out in the past :/

I couldn't have rated 'Mockingbird' very highly as I don't have any record of the track making my top 20. Going off my 2004-2009 spreadsheet, Eminem's top 20 tracks were:

Eminem - Just Lose It #7

Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers #1

Eminem - We Made You #17

Eminem - When I'm Gone #8

Eminem - You Don't Know #15

Clearly I was being generous putting 'Just Lose It' as high as no. 7 but that's how my chart was compiled at the time. Being 2004 I can only assume there was little competition. :kink:

I've noticed a few others posting comments about Diana Vickers having "better" tracks on the album. Does 'TBWML' make me want to check out Diana's album on Spotify? No!!! Actually I need to sort out my Spotify as it's been playing up. :(

Scouting For Girls 'TAALS' wasn't that bad but I still don't think it was the makings of a popular UK no. 1 hit - the fact it managed to get there really did puzzle me. 'She Said' screamed UK no. 1 to me and had that been the case, the better song - imo - would have definitely hit the no. 1 spot.

I just hope that eminem's song gets to No.1 as it will see him getting to the top because of his singing voice and the concept of the song :)

Well because this song is a strange one, it intrigues me as to how the album will sound like. I get a feeling he will be taking us to the 70's and 80's (I welcome it) :D

I found 'This is the life' through one of the adverts its used on and was hooked that way. I still think they will release it as its on their album. It could give them a bigger fanbase (hopefully in the same light as The Hurts)

Helele is brilliant. Played - a - live is still one of my ultimate faves. Considered getting their album but stalled. This new song is making me change my mind :D

XXXO passed me by. I checked it out and then automatically understood why the jay-z remix was selling more than the original version. It fits it perfectly. Im still waiting for her top 10 hit. Hopefully i wont have to wait too long

I agree with you on the lack of decent tracks around. I really like this. Found out it was number 1 in New Zealand a month ago. If the single doesnt do much here then i hope the album does something.

The Bruno Mars song 'the way you are' isnt on b.o.b album. Its bruno mars introductory single to his forthcoming album. This will put him up there with the greats. Reminds me of pharrell. Multitalented in every single way. Woop Woop lol

I agree with you on O.M.G. (I thought it was a cover of Sabrina Washington of the same name lol) It took a tons of repetitive listening before i got the hang of it. Im more happy for Will.I.Am as hes got a solo number 1. Thats about it lol

The flood is definitely making me think of getting her album. Ive got 'Call Off The Search' and 'Piece By Piece' but this is making me think she has much more to offer which can only be a good thing. Funny its exactly how Norah Jones has done. Massive change for the forth album. Spooky lol

I just hope that eminem's song gets to No.1 as it will see him getting to the top because of his singing voice and the concept of the song :)

Singing? Eminem doesn't sing on 'Love The Way You Lie' unless you're getting this track mixed up with 'Not Afraid'?

'Bang Bang Bang' does sound a lot like a throwback to the 80s thanks to the use of the synths Mark Ronson has used on the track. I bought 'Version' three years ago after 'Valerie' was released as a single and I thought overall it was a solid album with only a couple of dud tracks - including the Lily Allen cover of 'Oh My God' which three years on, I still don't think much of.

I noticed that Two Door Cinema Club are currently on Ireland's iTunes with 'Something Good Can Work' which surprised me purely because I charted it about three months ago. I'd assumed the track was released then too but I guess not.

As a follower of European charts, I did noticed that Safri Duo had released a Greatest Hits which made me laugh. I didn't realise they'd released enough songs to compile a greatest hits cd. I was only familiar with 'Player-A-Live' myself and would've thought 'Helele' was the eagerly awaited "second" single. :P

Have to admit, the first time I heard 'XXXO', it was the Jay Z remix anyways so usually when you hear a song for the first time you tend to assume that's how it sounds. Hence I've stuck with the Jay Z remix by default.

Last weeks UK chart was really slow paced and static hence the lack of new releases cracking the top 10. This week there's potentially six new singles that could make the UK top 10 on Sunday. Will be a far more interesting chart and I suspect it'll be a high selling week for the top 10 singles. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the no. 10 sells 40k this week. :o The Naked And Young were indeed no. 1 in New Zealand a few weeks ago. They stormed into their native charts at no. 1 leading me to suspect they came from a reality TV show. 'Young Blood' is the first song in ages to enter the New Zealand singles charts at #1 :o

Bruno Mars could well dominate by personal chart this year. He's already been no. 1 as vocalist on 'Nothin' On You' and looks set to do really well in my chart with 'Billionaire'. I'll have to keep a look out for this new single of his.

What's interesting is that whilst 'OMG' has grown on me, I actually liked Usher's new single 'DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love' from first listen. The only other Usher songs I pretty much liked from first listen were 'Yeah!' and 'My Boo'. Overall, I'm not exactly the biggest Usher fan.

Perhaps Norah Jones is Katie Melua's inspiration. If Norah Jones released an album of Eurodance covers ( :kink: ), would Katie Melua do the same? Katie Melua - Sings The Hits of 2 Unlimited
