It's so wrong that Kesha is this high on the countdown. The album was good, and Tik Tok was a good song but her personality, and just her as an artists is just awful. Blah Blah Blah was bloody awful as is the new one with 3OH!3. Awful artist who needs to go away.

Love KT, shame she underpeformed with album #2. Marina is just brilliant though, Family Jewels is pretty much faultless and she's a cut above the rest of the likes of Ellie or Florence. The woman is basically brilliant.

Amos has sold over 12 million records worldwide and was one of the lead figures in the female singer-songwriter movement that shot up in the 1990s. I was always astonished she managed to snatch a #1 single in the UK with Professional Widow when she has far better material like Cornflake Girl for starters! She has self produced all but 2 of her 11 studio albums and is one of the most influential and underappreciated women in the countdown.

Shame on you Buzzjack! Annie Lennox is a Goddess! Activist, singer, songwriter. This British institution does it all. She was part of one of the 1980's biggest electro-pop bands the Eurythmics who helped define the decade with their pop classics such as Thorn In My Side. Sweet Dreams [Are Made Of This] & Here Comes The Rain Again. Lennox has released a string of successful solo albums since the 1990s and took a more alternative route with her solo material. No More I Love Yous remains one of my favourite all time songs and Annie proved she still has a massive fanbase when she shifted over 250,000 copies of a greatest hits collection last year in the UK. I am appalled she isn't higher -_-/

I confess I don't know a lot about Bat For Lashes. She's skilled in the instrument department according to her official biography which states she can play piano, guitar, harpsichord and the autoharp. She's amassed BRIT nominations and heaps of critical acclaim for her work including a Mecury Music nomination for Two Suns. I only discovered today her real name is Natasha Khan :drama:, but with so much hype surrounding her, she seems like the type to craft a fantastic career and inspire other artists whilst remaining underappreciated by the masses.

Tori Amos is really good, 'Silent All These Years' is an absolute masterpiece.

I don't really rate Annie Lennox solo but some of the Eurythmics stuff is good, in particular the three Grami mentioned.

Bat For Lashes is again really good, I don't know a lot of her stuff but what I do know is seriously good.

Amos really should be Top 10 on her piano playing alone - never mind her gut wrenching songs.

Bat for Lashes >>>>>> Florence Welsh

Annie Lennox has one of the most pure voices when she sings with just n guitar.

Younger sister of Kylie Minogue and judge on the X Factor, Dannii Minogue's music career is a woeful tale of flops at every turn with a minor burst of popularity in 2003 before fading once again into musical osbcurity. Dannii has provided some standout moments in her music career such as This Is It, Who Do You Love Now? & I Begin To Wonder but most of her music is unforgettable and seems to me as if she just laps up Kylie's scraps. That aside she is an extremely likeable woman. [Not that that benefits her in anyway but ah well]. And who can forget that lesbian romp?

ICON in every sense of the word. Shirley Manson is the frontwoman of Garbage who have released 4 of the best albums to ever grace a shop shelf. I am going to cut it short here as I am totally biased and obssessed with this woman and her grungy, dark style and vocals. She was part of other groups before worldwide acclaim came with Garbage in the late 1990s. Please give us that solo album woman!

After plugging her music in the background for years, Dido rose to fame when Eminem sampled her song Thank You for his most famous and well known hit Stan. Millions of records being sold followed with her first two albums. I say this as a person that either bought or listened to both records: Dido is bland. Her voice is lifeless, her songs whilst lyrically strong are musically bland like a glass of dilute pop that has far too much water in it.After a long hiatus she returned in 2008 with Safe Trip Home which was beaten to #1 by a reissue of a 12 month old Leona Lewis album and bombed down the charts barely scraping gold status. I will give her Here With Me though. An example of what was lacking in everything else she recorded. Her first two albums were in the top 5 best sellers of the last decade in the UK and have sold an estimated 33 million copies between them worldwide.

Shirley Manson has a great way with a melody.

This thread is just going to depress me now.

Dido <3

I love all of her albums immensely, with a preference for the superb "Safe trip home".

Easily the most talented and successful solo Spice. Her debut solo album Northern Star was the best selling Solo-Spice album and she racked up a string of chart hits between 1998 and 2000 before declining sales caused her to launch the argument 'I'm still big in Europe'. A shame because I actually really like her material and whole outlook on music. Plus she gets top points for criticising Westlife on CD:UK whilst sitting next to one of the most disgusting humans currently wasting oxyygen: Louie Walsh.

Celine Dion may be a wailing bint who sings over-dramatic ballad after over-dramatic ballad but she is in my opinion one of the world's outstanding female talents. It's difficult to find many artists that have the voice she does and the record sales this Canadian-French singer has achieved. Celine was at her most popular in the 1990s with Think Twice, Because You Loved Me and of course My Heart Will Go On [and on and on]. I actually went mad on her music a few years back when I wanted to slit my wrists regulary but that aside, Celine is a true talent. How many other artists can sing live shows for 3 years in Las Vegas 5 nights a week? [and she looks hawt when she's in casual wear]. She also won the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest

She may be New In Town [OK bad pun :(], but Little Boots had one of the best albums last year with Hands, a solid pop record that contained more gems than a diamond ring. I eagerly await what she comes up with next and hope it can do better than her debut which vastly underperformed.

Mel C was decent for the first album. After that she made the stupid mistake of working with Greg Alexander or whatever his name was. Blandarama.

EPIC! I love Bat for Lashes, really pleased she's so high as I certainly didn't expect it. Two very solid albums from her. I put her number two in mine although she's probably not my 2nd favourite female artist from the list - I just gave my 1 and 2 to the two artists in the list that I think have produced the best two songs. I can never tire of 'Daniel', it's perfect and one of my favourite songs of all time.

Personally I think Boots is too high on this countdown, the debut albums of Marina, VV and Paloma were all better than hers and the amount of hype surounding her, in particular Remedy got too much. Shame of course that she underpeformed so much.

I actually quite like Dido, bland as though she may be, quite a lot of the material from her 2 first albums are extremly good. Here With Me, White Flag and Life For Rent would be my hghlights.

Gotta love Mel C aswell, been a while since we've had an album from her though isnt it? Dannii's quite a few good songs too, and who doesnt love a bit of Garbage? Theres one or two Celine Dion songs that arent too bad but on the whole I find her fairly awful.

Celine Dion's best stuff is from her French album - did she had more than one french album?

I still love her album. She's incredibly underrated, which is a great shame as with all the hype it looked like she was going to be overrated if anything. :(

(even I missed the voting part)

Shirley Manson is my absolute favourite female artist. Love her! She should be much higher...

I like also these artists from this top (till now):

Bat for Lashes, Annie Lennox, Alison Goldfrapp, Charlotte Hatherley, Gabriella Cilmi, KT Tunstall, Dido, Sharleen Spiteri, Siouxsie Sioux, Elly Jackson, Likke Li, Santigold, Tina Turner, Siobhan Donaghy.

PS Charlotte Hatherley (Ash) was also part of Bat for Lashes' live band and was also in Client.
