22. Yes definitely agree there :D The UK #1's that year were mostly great too, maybe my favourite year for #1's...Shine, Grace Kelly, Give It To Me, With Every Heartbeat, Bleeding Love etc...

32. Wow, 2 whole albums worth of hits  she's more worthy than fellow Scot Sandi Thom's greatest hits though I guess :heehee:

22 - It was a pretty decent year, in fact most of the last decade was rather good. 2010 has been the worst year since 1997 for me :\.

32 - Definitely! Have you got Sandi's latest album? I wasn't sure whether to get it or not as I read it was a change of direction for her - I quite liked the happy clappy acoustic pop myself :heehee:

22. Agreed, worst for me since 2003 I guess, which whilst overall pretty good and diverse musically, there were only 5 songs I'd include in my personal all time favourites, and 4 of those were by Delta Goodrem  Thank goodness for Birgitta Haukdal!

32. Nope, and I don't plan to buy it, from the clips it sounded completely not like my sort of thing. Blues I think

22 -, I liked quite a number of songs in 2003. It was a very good year for commercial pop imo.

32 - Blues :( That's one of the only genres I can't stand. Won't be buying that album then

22. It was my transitional year from dance to pop. Pre 2003 I was primarily a dance fan but dance in 2003 was absolutely AWFUL hence I was basically forced to get more into other genres and was taking time to adapt to them

32. Definitely agree with that, terrible genre and the clips of the album I listened to on iTunes sounded as depressing as hell :(

Here's what I like:

07 (06) Kylie Minogue ~ All The Lovers ~ 5 [1-4-4-6-7]

14 (07) Kelly Rowland feat. David Guetta ~ Commander ~ 4 [1-3-7-14]

15 (39) Enrique Iglesias ~ I Like It ~ 5 [50-44-39-39-15]

16 (49) I Blame Coco ~ Self Machine ~ 2 [49-16]

32 (**) Amy Macdonald ~ This Pretty Face ~ 1 [32]

35 (27) Lady GaGa ~ Alejandro ~ 8 [5-7-14-16-22-27-27-35]

36 (30) Katie Melua ~ The Flood ~ 13 [5-4-16-22-24-23-26-24-25-30-31-30-36]

41 (**) Katie Melua ~ A Happy Place ~ 1 [41]

44 (54) Basshunter ~ Saturday ~ 2 [54-44]

46 (36) Lena ~ Satellite ~ 19 [37-14-13-14-14-6-6-17-22-6-3-7-8-8-14-24-34-36-46]

49 (44) Anna Bergendahl ~ This Is My Life ~ 22 [20-23-6-1-2-4-3-8-16-15-23-5-9-15-28-36-28-37-48-52-44-49]

50 (45) Amy Macdonald ~ Spark ~ 10 [5-5-14-21-26-34-50-51-45-50]

56 (55) Eliza Doolittle ~ Pack Up ~ 4 [43-42-55-56]

Great chart!

22 - I don't think I ever had a transitional period between genres, I've kind of always liked a bit of everything. I do agree though that dance was more prominant in my tastes in 2001/02, pop took over a bit more in 2003 and I went through a metal phase in 2004. However, being a Eurovision fan throughout that time always helped me to enjoy multiple genres :D

Thanks for posting :D

Eurovision was the exception for me although I only became a mega-fan in 2001 thanks to Estonia, who I bought the compilation album for just to get the song  I didn't think the 2000 contest was up to much at all song quality wise aside from Russia and Estonia. I watched in 1999 for Precious and also liked Sweden, Iceland and Estonia. You'll notice a pattern there - you might say if it wasn't for Estonia's string of entries at the turn of the century I wouldn't be quite the ESC fan that I am now!

I was obviously a big pop fan before 2003 but nowhere near as much as now, and my chart (which was only a top 5 until 2004) was quite often completely dance dominated up until then. The only dance songs I really recall liking in 2003 were XTM, Ultrabeat, DJ Sammy, Deepest Blue and some from the Clubland albums. Wasn't at all keen on that Room 5 song that topped the chart for ages, and barely any other dance songs did well that year.

1999 was the year that got me into Eurovision, I think the fact that Iceland, Cyprus and Sweden all came on after each other really grabbed my attention at a young age. 2000 was pretty awful, all the decent songs came on right at the start. 2001 was vastly improved - I remember Nusa Derenda vividly, totally captivated me

My end of year chart for 2003 has quite a lot of dance in it which I had forgotten...

04. DJ Sammy - Sunlight

06. Oxygen feat. Andrea Britton - Am I On Your Mind?

07. Benny Benassi pres. The Biz - Satisfaction

08. 56K feat. Bejay - Save A Prayer

10. Scooter - Weekend!

23. Plummet - Damaged

24. XTM & DJ Chucky pres. Annia - Fly On The Wings Of Love

29. DJ Sammy - The Boys Of Summer

30. Divine Inspiration - The Way (Put Your Hand In My Hand)

31. Kontakt - Show Me A Sign

32. Kira - I'll Be Your Angel

37. Ian Van Dahl - I Won't Let You Go

40. Jurgen Vries feat. Shena - Wilderness

42. Linus Love feat. Sam Obernik - Stand Back

44. Groove Coverage - Moonlight Shadow

That's only 3 less dance tracks than 2002, so I guess I found levels in quality of dance music in 2002 and 03 pretty equal

The more successful dance tunes of 2003 were not so great though, I hated that Room 5 song :(
