Yes, sounds like a much better semi than last week :) Mimmi Blix and Marika sound like the most interesting to me, but Babel Fish (who are actually relative veterans, maybe a bit Take That, although they say they're influenced by the Beatles, they had a song on the Dawson's Creek soundtrack) have some potential. Nothing I hate the sound of here, Endre could be good, though I know I'll want to punch him after he's grinned at me for 3 minutes.

And Hanne (good-not-great, I agree, although it's the most Tone Damli of the selection) co-wrote Disappear (Germany 2008), My Heart Is Yours (Norway 2010) and Shine (Georgia 2010) :o

Semi 2 songs are all up in full on Youtube. Just type in MGP 2011 and look on most recent videos et voila!

You're Like A Melody is very Jojo - A Little Too Late in full, and probably my favourite of the bunch. Depend On Me and Sand are more mature than the others and I like them but don't love them. Endre's song is quite catchy and should do well. The bridge and production of Allergic are great but the chorus isn't quite so good. Gipsydance is certainly catchy but her voice is a bit annoying, and I can't say I'm a fan of I'll Be Yours really...

Really hard to predict who the finalists are here, but I expect Endre has his spot sewn up already.

I'll Be Yours: this could be a real dark horse! Very rousing and feel-good (actually quite Alphabeat-esque...) - could get the same sorts of votes that went to Denmark last year if Norway sent it. / 9/10

Depend On Me: Oh my GOD - Take That doing Love Shine A Light mashed with Hey Jude in a blender anybody?! I like it quite a lot actually - although GOD knows how it would do. A bit like Ireland last year - this could either go top five or bottom five. / 8/10

Gipsydance: This could easily go down as well as Allez Ola Ole and OPA (doesn't she even namecheck OPA halfway through?) did if it got a revamp and had an appropriately barnstorming live performance. Could go top ten if the Norwegians sent it - or end up slumping like the likes of Hora Din Moldova. / 8/10

Sand: Oh I DO like the intro to this! Very mid-90s alternative female rock, but gets a bit monotonous after a while and could do with a better hook - not sure how well it would do at the contest. Likely DNQ / 7/10

Oh, Oh (Puppy Love): Oh HELLO Endre *.* Very Bjorn Muri from last year - a shoo-in for the final, surely, but I can't see it doing too well if it gets the nod for Dusseldorf. / 7/10

You're Like A Melody: Rich is correct - this IS quite JoJo! If she pulls off the vox this could be a contender. Could go top ten if it made it to Germany. / 9/10

Allergic: THIS IS THE TRACK I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/icons/disco.gif Will do SOD ALL but FUCK ME this is a proper poppers o'clock moment. / 10/10

Pernille og Marius: I'll Be Yours - Make me wanna sing and dance  9.5/10

Babel Fish: Depend On Me - The begining was a little.. boring, but after first chours it was really good :) 8/10

Marika: Hungry For You - haha this is funny  do she sing "Opa" ? :P 7.5/10

Isabella: Sand - great in the begining but it gets a bit boring after a while... 7/10

Endre: Oh Oh (Puppy Love) - Love this! he is very cute too  10/10

Hanne Sørvaag: You're Like A Melody - Love this too, would love to see it in düsseldorf 10/10

Mimi Blix: Allergic - Oh this is amazing :o what a high quality in Delfinale 2  10/10

Red - OUT

Orange - Siste sjansen

Green = Spektrum

A much better selection of songs than the first heat. Absolutely loving Gipsydance and You're Like A Melody. Allergic is my favourite so far though, fingers crossed it qualifies to the final. The voters in this contest have a bit of a thing against the dance-electro-pop numbers though which worries me...

"I'll Be Yours" // "Show me some toes, I'll be yours"?!?!?!?! SE-FUCKING-RIOUSLY?! // 4/10

"Depend On Me" // Boring. Vocals are weak. There's been this moment i kind of liked, but the singer didn't really hit the note needed // 6/10

"Hungry For You" // Absolutely AMAZING. Not to keen on her voice but the music is stunning // 9.5/10

"Sand" // This SCREAMED a massive breakdown by the end of the song, or in the middle (at the end preferably). Missed opportunity // 7.5/10

"Oh Oh (Puppy Love)" // The 'oh, oh' parts lacked autotuning, i thought. It just seems so home-made within 6 and a half minutes. "Sitting here right next to you, i adore you" is named THE BEST NORGE MGP 2011 LYRIC // 4/10

"You're Like A Melody" // Taylor Swift meets Kelly Clarkson meets some other slag like Stacie Orrico. Using the 'radio' voice IS SO INVENTIVE. Well done // 3/10

"Allergic" // XONIA DID IT FIRST BITCH. Beat in some places is pretty catchy i confess. However this is all sorts of generic repetitive music that's been done a million and 45 times before by any skunk who is capable of talking and has a wealthy sponsor who doesn't have anything against trading sex for show business breakthrough // 8/10

In brief, a HUGE letdown of a Semifinal, and expected decline in quality of songs.

I'm watching :P If my internet connection holds out that is...

Still not thinking overly much of I'll Be Yours...seemed quite throwaway on stage. Depend On Me has a really anthemic quality to it and is coming across very well, really liking it!

Gipsydance came across a lot better on screen, although it sounds incredibly Eastern European, might pick up a lot of Balkan votes if it was sent - wouldn't rule this one out of going further.
Sand came across a bit pretentious and boring but it's credible so will almost certainly make the top 4 or the final - 3 pure pop songs are closing tonight and we all know how much Norway love to vote for pure pop (not much!).
If Allergic crashes out it'll be a travesty! I'm fully expecting it though :( . Gypsydance came across really well. All the others so far tonight have been pretty dull.

Hanne is a great singer and this song is excellent - very Jojo, but different enough to stand out and she's quite striking too, especially in that pink dress :o

I guess if she flops out tonight she'll go back behind the scenes, so I hope she goes further.

The production on Allergic is fantastic. You just know if it did the impossible and won MGP though it would do absolutely nothing in ESC - although this is a much more modern Eurodance sound than anything seen in the contest before...
Hanne came across very nervous to me, hopefully she'll make it through though. Allergic was performed very well considering most songs of that genre don't come across well live. I just hope Norway get it. If it was in a UK selection it would be a runaway winner I reckon.

I can't call the results of this at all :o I agree with you about that, it's very much the sort of song that would do well here, whereas the others really aren't, maybe Hanne at a push, three or four years ago.

Alexander Stenerud performing as a guest (with Guri Schanke) Four years in a row he's been involved in MGP? Looks like he's doing a medley of his entries.
That was awesome :D And he managed to find a suitable ending for Give It To Me :heehee: . Shame they didn't do an electro-pop version of Ven A Bailar Conmigo though :kink:
