i have slowly come to realization this summer that of montreal are one of the worst / most offensive bands around today

 

your thoughts?

I still never got around to listening to this but loads of people say it's a $h!tty album and that is kind of putting off.

i've only ever heard of disconnect the dots because it was a free download on last.fm and i thought it was quite a good song. not really interested in listening to anything else of theirs though.

Are they as awful as The Script?

WHY? Hissing Fauna and Satanic Panic are both amazing, although i've not heard much of what they've done since then.

You just FORCED me to listen to Lysergic Bliss about 7 times in a row and its even better than i remember :wub:

i mean hissing fauna is solid but kevin barnes is such an atrocious asshole it's just ugh. he has this alter ego he created who's an african american male to female trans person (who he always calls a "SHEMALE!") and i'm all for experimenting with your sexuality as a straight man but that just comes off as borderline offensive and appropriative

 

also they're such a theatrical/'gay' band for straight indie tweens who can't like actually gay music like scissor sisters and such because that's too gay

 

and anyway

 

their new albums are just f***ing terrible

I've only ever heard Hissing Fauna which I quite like, not of their other material has grabbed me though.

 

I do love Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse though :wub:

 

Heimdalsgate is my favourite too! Although I love the whole Hissing Fauna album. The earlier stuff is very twee, but its okay on the whole, and Satanic panic is great. The newie isn't bad actually, some dodgy moments as always, but an improvement on Skeletal Lamping.

I haven't heard this Georgie Fruit :o. I guess i never quite had the concept of Hissing Fauna then :(. I can't speak for their fans though, or their new albums, so i'll give you the benefit of the doubt on those at least.

Okay i guess i'll have to agree with this. I'm listening to Sex Karma now and its breathtakingly dire. Coquet Coquette is good and thats where it ends.
