Posted August 19, 201014 yr So, some American DJ called "Dr Laura" has got in controversy for advising a black caller to her show that she shouldn't be offended if her boyfriend's friends call her a "n*****". Cue criticism from all sane Americans; Dr Laura forced to resign. But in wades Sarah Palin, tweeting these well-measured and considered concerns: "Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American, not fair")." "Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!" Surely this will finally be enough to kill off this vile woman's career, especially following her insane criticism of the building of the mosque at 'Ground Zero' in New York.
August 19, 201014 yr This doesn't count as news. It would be news if Sarah Palin said something intelligent and enlightening.

August 19, 201014 yr The muslim mosque is an evil thing tbh, nothing against there being a mosque it is not an illegal religion but the plan to open it on the 10th anniversary of muslims killing 3000 people shows that this mosque being built there and the date it is opening is a deliberate attempt to trample on the graves of the dead. I am all for freedom of religion but ffs this would be like a statue of Adolf Hitler being put outside a jewish holy shrine, sick and depraved this mosque is

August 19, 201014 yr Moron. Brilliant reply well thought out, intelligent, articulated, adds a lot to the debate, you are a great asset to the board

I don't believe there should be anything religious on the site as those who tragically lost their lives were all of different religions. There should be a memorial, but it should be a way to remember those who were gone, and their lives and not be hijacked by any religions.

I am all for freedom of religion but ffs this would be like a statue of Adolf Hitler being put outside a jewish holy shrine, sick and depraved this mosque is Are they planning to open it on the 10th anniversary? That doesn't really fit in with the fact that American muslims are planning to mark the end of Ramadan on 12 September although the actual date this year is 11 September. As long as they avoid opening it on such a sensitive date they should be allowed to go ahead. A Hitler statue would be a completely different matter. That would be commemorating an evil dictator rather than a perfectly legitimate religion.
August 19, 201014 yr Author I am all for freedom of religion but ffs this would be like a statue of Adolf Hitler being put outside a jewish holy shrine, sick and depraved this mosque is No it wouldn't. Even though you might think Islamic extremism and the Islam religion are the same thing, they're not. Btw, the mosque won't be built ON the site - it's being built two blocks away. A correct analogy to apply to your Hitler example would be to not allow any German restaurants to open in the same neighbourhood as a synagogue. Edited August 19, 201014 yr by Danny
August 19, 201014 yr Btw, the mosque won't be built ON the site - it's being built two blocks away. precisely. you may as well object to a mosque being built within a couple of streets of aldgate/liverpool street, edgware road, or russell square/king's cross. insanity.

I am all for freedom of religion but ffs this would be like a statue of Adolf Hitler being put outside a jewish holy shrine, sick and depraved this mosque is Completely wrong. Your analogy would be relevant only if they were planning to put a statue of Osama bin Laden up - unless you're seriously going to try and argue that he represents ALL Moslems.
August 20, 201014 yr I should also point out that it's not technically speaking a mosque that's being built there, it's a community centre that just happens to have prayer space for Muslims. Calling it a mosque would be the equivalent of calling a hospital a Church, just because some religious services are held there. Also, I'd like to envoke Godwin's Law.
