This is closing the London Film Festival, a great slot to get. I think I've read this guy's story in a book called What It Feels Like...:

he had to break the bone in his arm before cutting his arm off to escape. The detail he goes into in his account made my stomach turn.

It was either him or some other person who got his arm trapped by a rock.

This is getting SO MUCH OSCAR BUZZ. Like pretty much every other Danny Boyle film I'm sure the hype will put me off watching for about a year and then I'll watch and admit that it was amazing.

I read recently that the amputation scene was so 'revolting' that people were being sick and leaving the cinema during previews.

I believe it's only a few mins in film but in real life it was a painful 40 minute ordeal

.

This looks dull

I thought the Beach was crap as well

whattttt?? i wont have a bad word said against the beach! ok it was pretty crap as in the storyline but the visuals were incredible not to mention one of the best soundtracks ever!

Really, really buzzing for this. Literally the film I'm most anticipating in the new year. (Well 2nd, behind 'Gnomeo & Juliet' :kink:)

this is the only forthcoming film i currently plan to see.

2011 needs some more good films.

saw this a few weeks ago damnnnn

never watching it again lol

good though

People usually overexaggerate though. I'm not saying it's not bad, but people have said worse about other 'shocking' scenes in films and when I came to see them I was just like ... 'was that it?'.

But yeah, for all I know it really could be that revolting/shocking haha. Still really looking forward to this, LOVE Danny Boyle as a director '28 Days Later' and 'Sunshine' are amazing .

Danny Boyle was on Film 2010 and they said something about how people were fainting in that scene, but I think they like concluded that American's are pussys.

Went to see this today and (no surprise) it was really good. Like really, really good. It was beautifully directed, shot and acted. It's not a film I'd choose to see again though, so soon. I think I'll watch it again next time, when it's on the TV. But I can definitely see why there is hype around it for the Oscar's. Danny Boyle (as much as I thought 'Slumdog Millionaire' was boring and overrated) is truly, a fantastic director and knows what he wants to do with his films and what he really wants to get from them.

Really enjoyed it. Liked the use of Bill Withers 'Lovely Day' at one point :)

Absolutely amazing film, so powerful. Danny Boyle and James Franco are really good at what they both do.

The amputation scene wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be! People don't half overexaggerate! The ending of the film was so good as well, really feel good

. His best film along with '28 Days Later' imo.

Really want to see this :o

Wow, wow, wow, WOW. Just can't form coherent sentences about this right now, just such a visceral and moving experience. It had the same emotional punch that Sunshine had for me. This may not win the major awards, but none of the other Best Film nominees (yet to watch Winter's Bone) had such a kinetic, powerful flow to it that this does, other than perhaps True Grit. The choices of the songs where perfect in order to connect with not only his memories, but our own (well at least for me). A.R Rahman's score matches Tret Reznor's and Atticus Ross's for me as well, and it would be criminal if it doesn't get original song. It's a utter shame that this is getting overlooked in favour of Black Swan, King's Speech etc. Only The Social Network beats this for me very narrowly, with True Grit in third. Oh, yeah, I cried LIKE A BITCH.

Edit: Just realised it's Dido who sings If I Rise, I thought I recognised the voice.

I watched it last week, for it was very good, much better than Slumdog but still far from Boyle's best, James Franco was magnificent, deserves an Oscar just depends if he deserves it more than Colin Firth (havent seen Kings Speech yet), I didnt think the score was anything special though. The Social Network>Black Swan>this, all very good though.
