'Dynamite' gives Taio Cruz hit second #2 hit in my chart following 'Come On Girl' in February 2008. I'd say it was relatively close between Sia and Taio Cruz for my no. 1 but 'Clap Your Hands' is still getting quite a few more plays on my mp3 player.

It really is. :lol: Once you plast the 'I Gotta Feeling'-esque sound to the track, it is a decent pop/dance track. However, I suspect Flo-Rida will peak now. Don't see the song climbing much further.

I'm still quite surprised at how well Hurts have performed in Central Europe with this - going to no. 1 in Luxumberg and Slovenia but just missing out in Germany. I will admit, the revamped version which appears in the new video doesn't quite appeal to me in the same way as the original version. That version (which I'm charting) has less backing vocals in the chorus, or at least aren't so audioable. It just works really well whereas I find the backing vocals on the new version a bit too loud over the main vocals and backing track.[/picky] :P

Hmm, I sort of like 'Slow' but I wouldn't personally say it's stunning. It is extremely MOR though and makes me think of Norah Jones. In fact, I'm surprised this was the UK physical chart #1 single this week. Obviously Radio 2 have done well to promote this single. However for me it's just a bit too MOR to go higher. That said, there is something I like about this which raises the track into my top 40...just!!! :lol:

I'm shocked it's the UK no. 1 selling physical. Like I mentioned in reply to GD, Radio 2 have obviously done a good job in getting this song recognised. I just think it's far too MOR to grab my attention. I do hope to hear more from Rumer - hopefully a couple of tracks that actually have a tempo will help.

Yes, still top 3 after 7 weeks which is very much an achievement - to even climb to no. 1 despite dropping 02-03 is even more of an achievement. Otherwise 'Billionaire' may well have had a third week at no. 1 but this song is too good to peak at no. 2 in my chart unlike the UK chart which it's stalled at no. 2 behind different no. 1 singles that have come and gone at the blink of an eye. :( At least Europe & Australasia got it right...again!!! :lol:

It is a crazy song but that's what makes this song so great, imo. One of 2010's defining dance tracks - a massive hit in so many countries. In fact, the USA and Canada are the only two countries I can think of where it hasn't been a hit.

I charted 'Wonderful Life' way back in January after it had spent several weeks in my Pre-Release chart. I discovered this track thanks to GD and it was instant love for this track. However, it tailed off quite quickly down my chart which I've now rectified, thanks to its UK release, the track re-enters. I agree, there was something quite eerie/haunting about the black and white video that seemed to fit the music brilliantly.

 

14 (08) Roll Deep - Green Light (08-14) [2 wks] Not as good as Good Times

 

Yes, that's true. Although quite a few Buzzjackers prefer this. 'Good Times' was more instant but I was majorly put off the track thanks to the terrible rap in verse 2. Otherwise it would've been a brilliant pop/rap/dance hit and possibly might've been no. 1 in my chart. Alas in the end it could only peak at #4.

Still going strong and finally Stromae has cracked the UK top 40. :D Now it needs to climb to #1 :P Well, I've come to the conclusion this isn't going to happen as much as I'd love it too. Regardless, 'Alors On Danse' firmly remains one of my fave singles of 2010.

Accoridng to Chart Stats, there has been two more minor hits since. 'Clap Your Hands' is just a brilliant disco/pop track which reminds me of Moloko Vs Gossip. Another song I've discovered through European charts. It's released in the UK on 13h September but I'm not holding out for a big hit. :(

Oh dear!!! :lol: As much as I do like 'Choices' a whole 45 minute version would be lucky to get the end without me getting bored/changing the track. Most albums these days are lucky to last 45 minutes, yet alone one extended mix of a single.

The thing that surprised me the most was seeing 'Break Your Heart' shoot to no. 1 in the US. It's excellent to see British artists getting recognition in the USA (ok, so Ludacris provides a rap) but it'd be nice if the song in question was also brilliant. Obviously we're in a minority.

 

'I Can Be'? :o That was one of my least fave Taio Cruz songs - moreso than 'Break Your Heart'. The pure reason for my dislike for the song was because of how much the backing music rips off 'Pure Shores' by All Saints. Try it!!! :lol: Play 'I Can Be' and sing 'Pure Shores' over the top and it's a perfect fit. :P

12 - I have to agree regarding the backing vocals, they feel a little out of place.

17 - Starry Eyed is rather great I think, there's a bassy sound in the background that really makes the song for me.

22 - I persisted, but it's something I won't be doing in a hurry again :lol:

 

1. I need to check this out on YouTube. Have to admit, Sia isn't exactly an artist I've known that well over the years. It was just seeing 'Clap Your Hands' doing well in a couple of European charts that brought Sia to my attention.

 

12. At least 'Wonderful Life' is doing well in Europe. Hurts look set to have their debut album enter inside the top 5 this Sunday. Where the album goes from here is left to be seen. Hopefully the third single will be equally as excellent and possibly give Hurts their biggest UK hit to date. Although sales for 'Wonderful Life' seem to have picked up this week thanks to cherry picking off the album.

 

17. I just never "got" 'Starry Eyed'. :lol: Maybe there was nothing to get in the first place. :P It just didn't appeal to me at all and in retrospect the track didn't even deserve to peak at #30 in my chart.

 

22. I don't think I'll be listening to this song ever!!! :lol: I'm more than happy with the radio edit. :D
